audio but no visual to iMovie

Hello,


I was following a thread dealing with an issue I'm having with iMovie. My friend sent me an mp4 that I'm trying to import to iMovie. The audio is imported but not the visual. The codec info: AVC Coding 1280 x 720 AAC 44100 Hz


Should I have him send it to me a different way somehow?

Hi,


The clip probably needs re-encoding. Make a copy of the clip and work with the copy so you preserve the original. Put the copy on your desktop. Control-click on it and select "encode selected video files" from the drop down menu. Then re-encode the clip and see if the audio-video plays in iMovie.


If the above doesn't work, use the free download, Handbrake, to convert the clip to Mp4/AAC (even if it already is that).
