Dragging out a MODIFIED photo without changing the filename

Whenever I drag or "auto-export" my photos, the files are renamed "fullsizeoutput_xxxx.jpg"

I'm happy with the resolution and modified colours, but that filename just isn't useful for reference.

I know I can export manually with original filename in Photos, but that would be an extra step and wasting disk space, when I only want to upload (a lot) of pictures. (15 GB).

I'm pretty sure this can be changed by typing some kind of script in Terminal.
Though, I'm not really a programmer, so it would be awesome if someone could help me with that. 😅👍🤓

Cheers!

Ps.

I also know about holding the Option button (ALT in other countries), to get the original picture by dragging, but I want to have the MODIFIED picture WITH original filename. (I know it's a lot to ask, but dang it, I want what I want 😛)

Are you using external editors or photo editing extensions with Photos? Then the dragged photos may be using the cryptic filenames fullsizeoutput_xxxx.jpg.

To get the original filename for the edited versions do not drag and drop (this will only save the preview generated by Photos). Select the photo and use "File > Export". The export panel allows you use a different file naming preset and you can select "Filename: Use Filename"

Dragging files from Photos is just giving you the internal working copies that photos is creating for itself, to be used with the media browser. There is no way to modify the file names; you would destroy the photos library. These copies are stored inside the library in a folder:

~/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary/resources/media/version/

Dragging from Photos is quick, but you have no control at all over the files you are sharing this way; you cannot control the file size or the pixel size, or the JPEG quality, or the filename. I would not even think of using this method, when I am sharing files and the size and quality matters.
