What to do when you delete an app without quitting?

I accidentally deleted an app without quitting it first on my MacBook Air. I dragged it to the trash then emptied the trash, but it was still showing up in the dock so by reflex I quit it. I know you're supposed to quit an app before deleting it so what do I do now?

MacBook Air, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

That's not necessarily true. It shouldn't have any effect as the app should not be writing to itself as it runs. It gets loaded into memory and runs from there. If it needed anything from the app bundle when you Quit, you would have seen some sort of error. Since you didn't, there is nothing to worry about (even then, I wouldn't worry about it--you would likely need to Force Quit, though).

I'm not currently seeing any problems, thought app (which I did not get through the App Store by the way) still shows up in "Recents". I don't know if that's a problem.

I did want to delete the app.

I had just read that you weren't supposed to delete an app without quitting so I was wondering if there was anything I needed to do.
