1st Gen Apple iWatch / Apple Watch face popping off?

If anyone has experienced their 1st gen iWatch's face pop off for no reason. This could be the result of a swollen battery, which has been an issue with some of the watches. Apple has actually extended the warranty to 3 years to fix this issue. This obviously does not include a face popping off due to damage. For example dropping a watch or knocking it against something.

I just had my Apple Watch face pop off for no reason. I went to apple support and opted to chat with an advisor who opened a claim. Apple is going to send me a replacement new 1st Gen Apple Watch and a box to return my watch. I spoke to Derek who was extremely helpful and understanding. After all the watch costs north of $800+ new. I would recommend calling in as well. No reason to go to an Apple Store.

Hi, I just called and spoke with Issac who told me it would be $79 to look at it and I would have to make an appointment at the Apple store. He knew nothing of the issue until I told him and then he put me on hold for about 5 minutes and said he would have to call support (after he sent me a Link where I had to pay 218.31 to have it done). Long story short he said I still have to pay 79. he just has to process it differently. My husband and I both own Mac's, (the second for me), an iPod, iPad, a 6+, 7+ and an 8+, Apple TV and we have and an airport. This Apple Watch, which I loved up until it popped apart, is the first time I got customer service that would make me think twice about replacing an apple product. I am still not sure if I am going to have it repaired or not.

I think you answered your own question there because there is no reason Apple would have started an extended warranty if others had not experienced the problem. Thanks for the feedback on the service you got from Apple Support.

Apple may be telling you that it is replacing batteries for 1st generation watches but that is not the case for me. They acknowledge that my watch battery did swell through no fault of mine but are not willing to repair at their expense. I too am rethinking my loyalty to the Apple brand, we are being asked to pay close to $300 to replace battery that is a well know fault in their product.

Good luck with your repair.

ℹ UPDATE ℹ

I went online today and chatted with Michelle. She didn't even hesitate to tell me that the swollen battery was covered at no charge to me!!! She even cancelled the first service request to submit a new one sent to my sons' address in another state because I was going to be there for awhile after I sent it in. My faith is once again restored in Apples' customer service . Cloud.Walker thanks for suggesting that I chat rather than call it made all the difference.
