Phishing scammers are spoofing Applecare phone number

Wondering if others have been getting phone calls claiming to be from Applecare reporting that your AppleID has been compromised.

The interesting thing is that the caller ID says Applecare and the phone number on caller ID is the same as Applecare (800 275-2273).

If you answer the phone, the scamming group starts with their pitch to get you to reveal your AppleID. When my scammer became frustrated after I started to question him, he threatened to call the CIA on me.

Interestingly, if you don't answer the phone, but let caller ID call the number that called you, you get connected to real Applecare. I was not aware that caller ID phone numbers could be scammed-- seems like they accomplished this by including the phone number in their CallerID "corporate name".

I received several of these calls myself. Whoever is behind this scheme is spoofing the legit AppleCare toll-free number (800-275-2273). I did not pick it up, and the these wiseasses left a message telling me to call a different number (855-377-0213). I wanted to mess around with these scammers and try to waste some of their time for sh*ts and giggles, but it was constantly busy). So I gave up.

I've had this same scam message impersonating AppleCare for the two weeks. They have left 7 messages!

Message-

"Before using any Apple device contact a support advisor. Press 1 for a support advisor or 2 to listen to this message again. Or you want to call back - call (518) 730-0499"

I even called them back once and "pressed one for a support advisor"....when I reached a person, I asked why they were calling and that I was suspicious of their call. They got defensive and said I didn't know what I was talking about when I started accusing them of phishing.

I told them to take me off their "call list" and that I was going to report their suspicious behavior.

And they STILL left 3 messages thereafter ! Unbelievable.... problem is, I don't know where to report this and when I google it it just says report to apple support but it doesn't fit any of the categories you'd be calling about. I hope this is noticed.
