accidentally created a new apple ID and I need to delete it

I was trying to change my apple ID's email from an old not so sophisticated email to the more professional one that I use now. In doing so, I accidentally created an extra apple ID. I need to delete this extra one because now I am not able to use my current email for my original apple ID. I tried changing the email of the second one so that it would free up the email that I wanted to use on my original ID but that didn't work. It still says that the email is unavailable. Everywhere I've looked it says that apple IDs cannot be completely deleted, only inactivated, but the second ID is not and never has been linked to anything and is only taking up my usable email now. Is there anyway I can delete this second account or at least completely detach my email from it?

If your e-mail address was associated with the ID in any way, for example as a Reachable at or Rescue e-mail address, then it can't be reused with another Apple ID for approximately one year. I have also seen posts that stated Apple told them there was a 30 day waiting period before the address could be used again. You will need to get another e-mail address to use as your Apple ID.

All purchases made using an Apple ID are tied to the ID. Delete the ID and you will need to download them using your new ID.
