App Store is not able to complete update of Safari since extensions are used by Spotlight. How do you temporarily quit Spotlight to let the update happen?

I am trying to update Safari, but cannot proceed since Spotlight is using Safari extensions. How can I quit Spotlight to get the update running?

For the less technical among us, could you explain what you mean by "kill the process", and maybe tell us how to do it? There is no "Kill" command on any menu or icon in the Activity Monitor application.

Hello Eric,

to "kill" the process is equivalent to terminate it or quit/force quit.

in order to perform such termination in the specific case here, once you have the Activity Monitor open you need to select the process you want to "kill" by clicking onto its corresponding line and then click on the icon with the x in a circle at the top left of the Utility Monitor app window.

Hope this helps
