I have been receiving a pop up message frequently stating "Apple wants to make changes" then asking for my password? Is this something legitimate?
MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)
I have this too. Once i did put in my password but it keeps coming back. choosing cancel closes that pop up but there is another exact copy that I also cancel and then a third one is revealed. Cancel that one and it goes away. It all comes back in a few days.
What is this and how to get rid of it. I hope someone from Apple will look into this and tell us what to do.

Can Apple step in here and give us authoritative advice? Seems like this virus is very prevalent. There are various comments on what to do, but some from vendors who want to sell malware protection. What should we do here?
Thanks for your replies. This may be related to an update for High Sierra? I have installed the update and will see if this eliminates the pop ups. I'll continue this discussion if it persists.

This is a screen shot of the pop up. Have to hit cancel three times for it to go away. Doesn't look like an apple request. Doesn't say what changes it wants to make. May come back later today of two days from now. Any thoughts?

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
There is a free version of Malwarebytes. Use it.
