Since upgrading my iPhone X to iOS 12 and my watch series 2 to WatchOS 5 I am not getting email notifications on my watch. It appears VIP email notifications work. I've tried everything I can think of.

So, it looks to me like this is more an issue with iOS 12 changing a default behavior on the phone, and then the watch mirroring the phone. I went into the settings on the phone and the sound settings were changed to no vibration for new mail. I changed it back to a vibration and now the watch works fine. What ticks me off is that Apple's support reps don't know this and had me wipe my phone.
I had to set up my watch as a new watch (not using prior settings). That fixed the calendar and iMessage, but not the emails.
Your favorites solution seems to have worked for me. Not sure how an account got set to a favorite or why there was another hidden notifications toggle in there.

I just spent fifty minutes with Apple support and solved the issue of not getting notifications for mail on the watch. Messages were coming through, but not Mail. On the watch app on the iPhone, go to Notifications, Mail, and make sure VIP is OFF and iCloud is ON. This solved the issue for me
I have been having an issue with no mail notifications on my Apple Watch 3 with iPhone X with Gmail on Exchange. Someone on here very kindly suggested I look at the watch app/notifications/mail and set it to mirror my iphone, and then on the iphone settings go to Notifications/mail and ensure you allow notifications from VIP and Favourite Mailboxes.
That fixed it for me.
Failing that, if you are a Gmail user just use the Gmail app - that works fine with notifications on Apple Watch.
I have a similiar issue.
when my Series 4 gps watch is connected to iOS12, i dont get any push email to my phone or watch.
Once i put the watch in airplane mode, then push email goes to the phone.
Wiped my phone yesterday and everything was working great. Took my watch off last night to go to sleep, and this morning back to no push email.
I have to manually refresh email (using icloud email account)
Once i disconnect the watch, then everything is good again.
super annoying, missing emails.

The more expressions of concern, the more likely it will be addressed in Watch OS 5.1
Same issue here (Apple Watch Series 2 watchOS 5, iPhone 6s iOS 12). No sound or haptic feedback for mail notifications.
I have sort of the same issue. I get an audible alert, but no haptic alert. Have rung up Apple Support and created a case for this issue.
I had the same issue. I fixed mine by going into Settings, Sounds & Haptics, New Mail, then changing the Vibration tone (which was on Default - None).

Same, only vip contact emails are notifying ok.
