Mail notification WatchOS 5

Same problem as everyone else, and I’ve reported it on the support link someone posted. AW4, iOS 12 on an iPhone 7. I tried the workaround people mentioned, setting up a vibration in mail on my phone, and using mirror in the watch app. Nada. I rebooted both. Nada.

It’s not the end of the world, I get all the other notifications, and I am more interested in text and Messenger notifications right away, but it’s still an annoyance, and pretty inexcusable that Apple made such a goof. Awaiting iOS 12.0.1 and 12.0.2 and ….

I have the opposite problem. I get notifications on my watch, bit when I go to mail on the watch it says no account. Setup a new account on your iPhone. I have a series 2 and iPhone 6. Don’t want to wipe the watch to fix such a stupid problem. Is apple aware of these issues?

No it’s the complete opposite. I DO receive alerts on my watch for email that comes in. On the watch when I go to the email app it says no email account found and that I have to setup an account on my phone.

If I try to do the custom workaround on the watch, I get the notification and the red dot but no haptic feedback. If I set it to mirror I get the haptic feedback and I see the mail but it will not stay in the background with the red dot, I can just see the mail initially.

I’ve tried setting up as a new watch and even done a restore on my 8+ to no avail. Very frustrating since I get a ton of important emails every day.

Me too! I have an Apple Watch Series 4 and iphone XS, ios 12 and WatchOS 5. I cannot get notifications on the watch for emails-- I think I have tried everything (restart phone/watch, unpair phone, varied every setting I can think of or have found suggested on the web).

I have exactly the same problem! I did have the series 1 Iwatch up until last week and with my iphone x max it was working fine on ios 12.1 now I have upgraded to the iwatch 4 guess what ...no emails.!!! People keep telling me its not that big of a deal! But you dont pay all that money for something to be wrong with it do you! So fed up. I have called apple, been on the phone with their engineer and been told that "its just the way they are doing things now and I need to get used to it"

So if the phone is asleep and my watch is asleep I want, and should, get mail to my iwatch like they used to, but he said that " apple are doing thing a new way" well I am going to apple at the weekend to find out from the horses mouth! If its true, then I am downgrading back to my iwatch 1. 😟

Sounds like bad advice from the Tech. I’m getting emails and messages now but the red notification Indicator doesn’t work for them but does for other non ApplenotifIcations. It seems from all the “solutions“ posted that it’s random. (XS, 12.1, Series 4).

My problems persist as well. Mail notifications still can't be swiped away. iOS 12.1 iPhone Xs and S3 Watch now on 5.1. I had really hoped this would be fixed. I can still swipe mail notifications away on my Series 0 watch - not sure what that indicates - it's running 5.0 since after the bricking I'm afraid to update it.

To give others a point of reference, the 5.1 ug on my iW4C did not brick my watch. My iPhone X is 12.1.

I am still getting email notifications after using the solution proposed upthread. Swiping works as expected.

I’m new to this thread but have been following it.

Thanks for all your suggestions but none of the fixed mentioned worked on my watch (Series 3). I get the notification on the watch and the red dot but no vibration.

I have just downloaded 5.1.1 and this is still not fixed.

This is getting really frustrating now as I’m finding the watch really useless without the email vibration notifications.

I’ve been working with Apple support since September 24. In my third senior adviser now. Done everything. Still cannot fix the email notifications. It’s been since upgrade in September. Very frustrating and disappointing that they seem to not care that we are loyal customers and their products are not cheap to continue with this issue.

We’ve unpaired. Paried. Did as new phone. Backed up phone. Reset. Everything. Was about to send it back for new watch but was told it’s a software issue. That was 2 days ago. And each senior adviser said they’d get back to me. But silence

What bothers me is that Apple does so many updates and so many issues happen but they ignore them? I was told my case was unusual and no one else had it. But I see it’s common.

I’m on my third senior advisor and now no one is responding to me.

I had to set up my watch as a new watch (not using prior settings). That fixed the calendar and iMessage, but not the emails.

Your favorites solution seems to have worked for me. Not sure how an account got set to a favorite or why there was another hidden notifications toggle in there.

Same issue here (Apple Watch Series 2 watchOS 5, iPhone 6s iOS 12). No sound or haptic feedback for mail notifications.
