Since upgrading my iPhone X to iOS 12 and my watch series 2 to WatchOS 5 I am not getting email notifications on my watch. It appears VIP email notifications work. I've tried everything I can think of.

So, it looks to me like this is more an issue with iOS 12 changing a default behavior on the phone, and then the watch mirroring the phone. I went into the settings on the phone and the sound settings were changed to no vibration for new mail. I changed it back to a vibration and now the watch works fine. What ticks me off is that Apple's support reps don't know this and had me wipe my phone.
If you have your Watch setup correctly, then you will not get notifications on the phone unless the phone is unlocked. Notifications should go to the Watch only if the phone is locked.
So I ended up unpairing my watch and setting it up as a new watch and now I’m getting the haptic and sound notifications for mail. Hopefully that fixed it. Only time will tell

What does this mean as far as watchOS 5 notifications?
That Apple is ignoring issues or communicate them ...
In Germany many tech magazines and press are writing about bad LTE Zane WiFi data rates and bad signal strength.

I had to turn it from Mirror iPhone to custom, got a notification and it stayed. Then I turned it back to mirror and it still worked. Not sure why. But that is what the Apple Advisor had me do.
I tried that but still no mail on watch. I still get notifications so it’s odd.

Yeah at this point I have given up getting my mail to give haptic feedback on my watch. I just ended up switching to Outlook on my watch and mail on my phone and it works just fine.
Can confirm that the watchOS update 5.0.1 does not fix the issue. It is still present.
