Since upgrading my iPhone X to iOS 12 and my watch series 2 to WatchOS 5 I am not getting email notifications on my watch. It appears VIP email notifications work. I've tried everything I can think of.

Oh, in case the original post I referenced was missed, for those who are having this issue (apparently after upgrading to WatchOS 5), go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > New Mail > Vibration (at top of screen - I had to scroll up) > change from “None (Default)” to your preferred option. This worked for me and my watch started vibrating again with mail notifications.
To quote Games if Thrones’ - “Now my watch is over” - tried to update to WatchOS 5.1 to see if this problem had been fixed and it bricked my S4 Watch....
My problem is that I don’t want email notifications on my watch but they are coming through anyway after iOS 12.1 update on phone. Somebody really messed up the phone/watch notification system!
Is it resolved with 5.1.1? Anyone try it yet?
I just wonder how this continues. I even have AppleCare on my less than 10 month old watch.

I have same problem. Even got a new watch. I get messages etc. no alerts for emails
Agree. I have everything done both online and at the store with Apple. All other alerts work except I receive no haptic when emails are received.
Any idea why no one can help or they seem to not be fixing this issue
I suspect they have made the choices users can make too varied to do reasonable analysis.
Any changes since watch is 5.1.2?
Apple are changing fast / they charge more and more but the quality is dropping away - and yes - they won’t admit when they get things wrong - this is going to really hurt them...

Well, I've completed my tests, and I find that if I mirror my iPhone with the watch, having both accounts set for notification, everything works. However, as soon as I turn off either of the accounts by using Custom notifications, I lose the notification on the watch for the one account I have turned on there. I have had the same issue since the iOS 12 and watchOS 5 updates and it has been driving me crazy. I’ve been dealing with Apple support and engineers and just running in circles!!! I followed the advice of someone on this thread and it somewhat worked. On my phone settings, under sounds and haptics for new mail, I had to change it to an actual vibration (couldn’t use none, although that’s what I prefer) then on Apple Watch app had to go to notifications, then mail and choose mirror versus custom. Once I did that, I got haptic mail notifications on my watch! Definitely a bug, but happy for a temporary work around to get haptic mail notifications on my watch.
