You can get verification code on trusted phone number in case u don't have access to trusted device.

I've never had icloud.com ask me for a phone number. Only the usual 2FA six digit authorization code.
And you don't remember your own phone number? Try looking on your cellular billing statement.
I agree. I'm an adult with a house, job, kids, bills, mortgage.... and Apple tells me how to manage my stupid phone? 2FA is a complete annoyance.

I never received an email. I did this on my phone. I searched in, trash, and junk and no email within the first two weeks.
