I required about five two facto authentications just to get to this point.

Each time I clicked the button that said I trust my device and Apple lied that I would not need TFA next time. I do not like being lied to on such a constant basis.

I would like to switch out of Apple but I can only transfer my data with two factor authentification. That looks to be an appalling monopolistic restraint of trade. I am amazed that it is legal.

For the forums, that requires a cookie. If you delete cookies and web data, you’ll need the code again when logging in.

I have given feedback both good and bad in regards to this forum.

As I previously mentioned Most of the volunteers here are professional and polite, but as with anywhere, there are always the odd exception.

I have seen completely new members scorned for asking about 2FA this is both unprofessional and insulting.

whilst know it’s not a subject the volunteers want to be dealing with as it’s an unresolvable issue, Telling a new member to go back and read the previous messages is not the answer.

I agree this feed is over long and all the answers are out there if your new here perhaps they don’t know how to go back.

I also feel the fact this feed has so many posts only supports the theory that this is a real problem for many.

Im not getting into Apple politics or policies for now, however for some who are still experiencing 2FA issues there needs to be a solution.

I agree the solution cannot be found here but I had so many problems with 2FA until it recently got fixed, I do understand people’s frustrations and the reason many try to find a voice, any voice misguided or not.

This is BS. I did not deliberately turn it on. I have been religiously avoiding and somehow apple forced me to do it. This is fucking aggravating. There is nothing I need two factor for, nothing. Given my use I am not in a position to need it. Come on Apple let us make the choices about our security. As an Apple customer for 30 years, this is seriously getting e to rethink some of those choices

This is getting old. It is a process to turn it on. It is a choice. You may have missed that with a new device or just in general but it doesn’t come on automatically. I’m defiantly with so much to learn as far as any technology goes and this feature works for me. I’m sorry it’s

been such a headache for you. Some of you make me worry that I don’t have mine set up correctly because it causes me no headaches.

This forum thread is now over two years old (first post was 9/18/2018) and 107 pages in length. Anyone who thinks things will change is fooling themselves. 2FA is now part of macOS and is required for certain functions and services. Better to learn how to properly use 2FA than to continue to rant away at it. It’s not going away. 2FA is also a fact of life on most banking and credit card sites so it’s not just Apple. Get educated and learn how to use 2FA, it’s the only way forward.

I agree. It was important for me to understand setting up properly on many sites. I’m highly security conscious and am happy to take any extra steps that help. That is me and I realize not everyone needs to feel the same way but there are just going to be more and more sites that require it. I can name 5 I use outside of Apple that I have set it up on.

I have two factor on individual programs and that's kind of ok, what I don't like is that this is across all my Apple devices, not just one. So that means anytime I use any of my 5 Apple products it makes me do two factor. I am always working between 3 different computers for work and to have to constantly go through the hassle of getting the code and putting it in and then trying to get my work done, so it is not terribly efficient. I was fortunately able to turn it off after Apple forced it in me. It required creating new passwords but that was minor in relation to the aggravation of using two factor.

When are you being asked for there 2FA code? I have an iPhone, 2 iPads, a Mac and a Windows computer. I am, at most, asked for the code a couple of times a month. And mostly that's on the Windows computer I only use one day a week now and that my IT department occasionally does things to when it installs updates.

The 2FA code is not something you need for most activities on your iOS device and only occasionally on a computer. Are you wiping all browser cookies regularly?

I don't have to mess with it at all on my iPhone, but it seems like it's coming up continuously every time I do anything on my windows laptop. I checked, and I'm not clearing cache or cookies so I have no idea why it's so often. It wouldn't bother me to do it once upon starting to use the laptop, but multiple times in an hour seems a bit ridiculous to me.

I work in an IT Department in a Hospital and the clinicans record observations on iPods and iPads are used by the doctors on their ward rounds.

We have almost 1000 devices and naturally some fail or need an upgrade etc.

We build using DEP and have an MDM.

Having 2FA is rediculous; having to find the phone for the code causes an impact on patient care due to messing around.

It should be our choice to turn it off!
