How do I turn 2 factor authentication OFF

I can't turn OFF 2 factor authentication and its annoying me no end.

I have one device an iPhone 6s Plus that's it no other devices but it won't authentic me and keeps asking to sign in to another frigging device.

If I'd have known that I would need another device to authentic I wouldn't have enabled it, I should have been told this prior.

I go to appleid.com sign in and it tells me I have 2 factor authentication turned ON but there is nowhere to turn it OFF, I can't turn it OFF on the iPhone either, this is just as dumb a process as it gets.

I signed in to iCloud.com as well but I'm going round in circles here and getting more an more annoyed.

So, how do I turn 2 factor authentication OFF

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 12

You can't if it has been on longer than 2 weeks.

Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?

If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, however, you can unenroll for a period of two weeks. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require a higher level of security.
