Do Not Disturb notification

Has anyone else had to clear off the explanatory notification about Do Not Disturb notifications from the lock screen several times an hour after upgrading to ios 12?

Any thoughts on how to keep it from coming back?

With IOS 12.1, there are 2 methods to remove the DND notice from the lock screen:

Method 1:

Tap or press on DND notice until it turns white, then tap on the X.

Method 2:

Swipe the DND notice to the left, then tap on Clear.

The notice will not appear again as long as DND remains continuously ON.

However with each method, the notice will return if DND is turned OFF and then turned ON again.

I'm in the same situation as poster MacTavish. I use a custom lock screen showing my contact info in case the phone is lost. The DND notice covers up my contact info.

The methods above work well for me because I keep DND on almost continuously to avoid spam calls. In the DND settings under Allow Calls From, I specify All Contacts. This allows calls to ring  from anyone in my Contacts, but all other calls go to voicemail. I only turn DND off if I'm expecting a call from someone not in my Contacts, which rarely happens.

Restarting my phone didn’t work. How do you actually fix this. I know my phone is in DND mode. I never turn it off. I cannot stand seeing that notification all the time, even after swiping it away minutes before. This needs a fix immediately.

As several people have noted, currently there isn’t a toggle to switch the “Do Not Disturb is On” notification on or off. It’s a new feature that Apple released with iOS 12 and if you’d like to have them address it you should copy the message below and add feedback at: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

“Please offer a toggle in the settings for Do Not Disturb to switch the “Do Not Disturb is Turned On” notification on and off. I, like many, have set DND on a specific schedule and am fully aware when it is on or off. I understand that some users may accidentally turn DND on and would prefer a notification, but the constant reminder and need to dismiss the pop-up notification detracts from the iPhone experience and aesthetic for those of us who are aware of when we’ve scheduled Do Not Disturb. Thank you!”

What you're missing and seem to be missing deliberately is that some people know that it's on and want to have the option to disable the constant notification. 🙂

I understand that. But, in the end, it doesn't matter what I think. It matters what Apple decides to do. Let them know what you'd like to see here:

First, my home screen has NO folders or files, they start on the 2nd screen, and therefore my custom wallpaper can be seen in FULL when the phone is locked.

The lock screen and home screen wallpaper are different functions. You can certainly have chosen the same picture for both. However, you don't have to have the first screen of your phone empty in order to see the picture on your lock screen.

You can submit all of your concerns to Apple as no one here can make any changes:

I'm having the same issue on my iPhone 6s. I tried turning the phone on and off. I tried toggling I tried hitting "clear" after swiping the message. All to no avail. The same message keeps popping up: "Do Not Disturb. Calls and notifications will be silenced until Do Not Disturb is turned off."

I never received this message with previous iterations of the iPhone software.

Thanks for the reply- I have tried turning the phone off and on, as well as toggling DND off and on, but am still getting seeing a notification that looks roughly like this:

"DO NOT DISTURB

Calls and notifications will be silenced until Do Not Disturb is turned off."

Clearing the notification makes it go away but only temporarily. Also, the little crescent moon is on the notification as well as on display up by the battery meter, as it was on iOS 11.

Thanks again for the help. I realize this is a minor issue, but on my phone, DND is always on and the notification banner runs right over a very adorable picture of my very adorable son on the lock screen.

Ended up having to disable DND mode because I need to see the notifications that are important. Thanks Apple for changing something without providing the simple option of togglling the stupid message.

I have DND enabled during my work day. I have no trouble seeing other notifications. They are completely visible below. You can also remove the DND banner temporarily.
