Do Not Disturb notification

Has anyone else had to clear off the explanatory notification about Do Not Disturb notifications from the lock screen several times an hour after upgrading to ios 12?

Any thoughts on how to keep it from coming back?

It’s a bug that seems linked to the auto-lock timing; if you auto-lock after 5 minutes for example but unlock your phone in less then it won’t appear - if you unlock after 5 minutes then it will.

The only fix to permanently get rid of it is to revert to manual locking.

Sorry Idris, but what you’re actually missing is that, whilst some people might accidentally turn on DND, there are plenty of us who don’t and deliberately have it on.

I am one of those people who has DND scheduled to be on. And I know it's on. But, I also did years and years of tech and customer support for a major cellular carrier. I know how many people stood in front of me screaming (as if it were my fault) that they'd missed an important call because DND was on. At least one person found an explanation of why helpful. So, please, don't try to speak for everyone.

We've already told you it's not customizable. If you want Apple to know you want it to be a user configurable feature, tell Apple.

What you're missing and seem to be missing deliberately is that some people know that it's on and want to have the option to disable the constant notification. Just because some less capable people need constant reminders does not mean that the rest of us should not have the option to toggle it off. Please don't repeat your same reply again. You seem to need the notification "do not keep saying what you have already said" pop up so you will get the message. 🙂

Yes!

Thank you so much for posting this.

I would love to see this feature integrated so I can clear the do not disturb notification permanently.

I too am a “Do Not Disturb On-all-the-time” person, so my experience would be really cool if this feature were enabled by the Apple iPhone team.

Thank you for posting it! :)

Let’s hope it happens !

For those of us who use DND, as our default state, this is much better.

Please don't presume to speak for everyone. I prefer the notice on the lock screen.

It would be better still if Apple would get rid of the notice all together, since the crescent already does the job much more elegantly. Poor design IMHO.

I've seen far fewer people complaining that they're not getting their phone calls or text notifications only to find out that they'd enabled DND by accident. So, I think it's a pretty good design.

First, my home screen has NO folders or files, they start on the 2nd screen, and therefore my custom wallpaper can be seen in FULL when the phone is locked.

The lock screen and home screen wallpaper are different functions. You can certainly have chosen the same picture for both. However, you don't have to have the first screen of your phone empty in order to see the picture on your lock screen.

You can submit all of your concerns to Apple as no one here can make any changes:

You are correct, having no icons on the “homescreen”, only allows one to see whatever wallpaper chosen, without being blocked when phone is unlocked. Sorry I did not word that properly.

What I wrote about the lockscreen wallpaper custom text being blocked by the DND notification does however apply. I only contributed my story here as to why some might believe an OPTION to control the notification behavior would be welcome. Some may simply have DND “ON”, unlock their phone to quickly show a photo on their lock screen of “Fluffy” their cat, image obscured, opps, moment lost. I’m sure folks have their own personal reasons for disliking the current way the DND notification works. Thanks for the Apple feedback link, I’m well aware of it.
