finder crash when clicking on any web link located inside the folder

strangely finder crash when i open any link located in any folder - when i double click on whatever web link, instead of chrome (or safari ) opening that link, the source folder restart - seems like finder crash and restart that folder but without open the web page.

is very weird cos if try with right click and then "open with" chrome ( or safari ), it works.. it works even if i copy to desktop and clicking on that link

if i try changing to "always open with" safari, instead of chrome - it crash again but it came with the error attached bellow.

it happens only with web links inside any folder - but as well it work fine w any kind of files like png, jpeg, psd or whatever others

i use an mac pro and worked just fine without any glitch with os sierra till today. i didn't installed or make any kind of major changes lately.. only yesterday itunes didn't saw my iphone ( after i upgraded to ios 12 ) and asked to instal some kind of software first when i plugged my phone to itunes. ( i really didn't pay much attention - it was an pop up window with " installing software") but after itunes restarted, my iphone was there.

i reinstalled chrome, repair disk permissions .. but without any luck

any suggestion pls? Thanks

I'm having the same problem. Mine started within a day of installing Safari 12, Software update 10.12.6, and Remote Client Update 3.9.3 on two different iMacs running Sierra 10.12.6. The only solution that I have been able to find is to reinstall the operating system, and that only works for a day or two at most before I have the same problem. I would have thought that Safari 12 was the problem, but I have been running Firefox for the last couple days, and I just noticed that the problem just recurred. I spoke to an Apple senior level advisor, and after examining various files from one of my computers, he said that Safari appeared to be "messing with Finder," and that Apple would need to come up with a patch to prevent the problem. In my case the problem doesn't occur in icon or list view - only column or cover flow view. Also, as corruptdream mentioned, I can open .webloc files in folders by using a right-click (or by copying the .webloc files to the desktop). But there are other problems; for example, once the problem recurs I can't do a command-I on any .webloc files, even by copying to the desktop or by using a right-click.

I am used to having my computers work without a hitch, and I am not looking forward to having to reinstall the OS for the fourth time in a week. 😟
