Numbers - link or jump to sheet

I have a 60+ page financial model in Numbers. I would like to create a Table of Contents so a user can jump to a specific sheet. I have looked everywhere for a solution. I see I can link to a website or email but not to a sheet within the spreadsheet. Even Excel allows this.... It would seem logical for Apple engineers to add a link to sheet option with the link command. Just my two cents.

I then tried to find a work around - to create a table and find a way to show a cell link but that didn't work.

I then tried to use an outside script editor but that didn't work.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi. You should be able to get the Jump to Sheet Automator Service here. (Dropbox download).

Double-click downloaded .workflow package to install. Give permission if needed at System Preferences > Security & Privacy and make sure Automator.app is listed and checked at System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Accessibility.

You can attach a keyboard shortcut at System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services.

Yes, to jump to a sheet, the user has to hit the assigned keyboard shortcut (it can also be run from the Numbers > Services menu; there's no need to "open" it) and pick from the list of sheets that appears. And of course the Automator Service has to be installed on each user's computer.

Unlike Excel, Numbers does not offer links within a document that would enable construction of a table of contents.

But installing the Automator Service and assigning a keyboard shortcut isn't too hard, so maybe this will at least add some convenience.

Hi L,

Take a look at SGIII's helpful reply in this similar question from 2014. linking sheets

The link in that reply will likely not work. Click on Read All Replies to see the rest of the conversation, mostly regarding possible reasons for the service to not work in some environments, and providing an updated link to the download.

SG is active here, may have updated the Automator Service, and will likely be by later today or early tomorrow with further advice.

HI L,

The updated link I referred to is SGIII's post to that conversation on March 30, 2017. The link was still active when I checked it this morning.

It appears to be the same link as in SG's post here. If it's not, then the one posted here will be to an updated version of the file.

When you check the Automator service and find it solves your issue, please return to SG's post above and click the green "Solved" button. This brings the post up to the top of the thread, where it's easier to spot by others searching for an answer to a similar question.

Definitely helps me but not so much people I would be sending the financial model to. I found a solution, however. I converted the Numbers file to a PDF and was able to create the links for the Table of Contents in the PDf, and created a back to link to the TOC on each page. Thanks again for your help. Your jump to script will definitely be useful.

Thank you. I don't think this really solves my problem unless I am missing something. I can open it and run the script and it works well. But I am looking for a way to imbed a link within a Table of Contents so users can go directly to the tab they want. Unless I am missing something, the automator would have to be run each time?

I do appreciate your follow up.

Thanks.
