difficulty dragging and dropping with new trackpad

feeling a little inadequate trying to simply drag&drop with the trackpad on my new MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports). More often than not when I go to drag & drop all that happens is I end up opening the file or image... any secret to successfully and easily doing this basic function on this new trackpad? Could I be the only one with this problem? Thanks in advance.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), iOS 10.3.1, info says: High Sierra 10.13.1

You'll want to use a lighter press on the trackpad to be able to drag and drop. If you start pressing too hard, it starts to activate the force touch on the trackpad and that is going to cause other things to happen and will not allow you to drag it. That being said, you can also turn off force touch on the trackpad in Settings > Trackpad > Point & Click at the bottom there you an uncheck that box and that should help with the issue that you are having as well. That being said, this will cause you to lose the functions of the force touch.
