iPhone XS Charging issue

Just got my brand new iPhone XS today and put it on my Belkin dual iPhone & iWatch charging stand (not the wireless one) and it repeatedly chimes the charging chime and does not stop until I unplug it from the charger? Is anyone else having this issue?

Boo, it's listed as not compatible. Here is what is compatible with each dock.

The staff at Apple Store in Galleria Houston did not seem think it unusually that Belkin Products were not supported even though they were sold in the store. I am an unhappy camper. Having just spend over $3K for two new Xs Maxes and cannot use my pair of Belkin valet chargers (less than one year old) for our watches and new iPhones. The solution from store staff was to purchase new Belkin units. Yeah right.

This is ridiculous! I received my XS on Friday and went out of town for the weekend so I didn't notice this issue until last night. Every other cord, plug, and dock I own work fine. What is different about the XS that makes it not compatible with this dock? If something is different in the XS, why do the other items still charge okay? This is a gigantic rip off and is nothing more than a money grab scheme by Belkin, that Apple has apparently signed off on. Both Belkin and Apple should be held responsible for this and they need to make this right for their customers.

Another question I have, does the dock support Apple Watch Series 4 or did they pull support for that as well? So much for reducing plugs and cords. I'm back where I started and wasted $150 on a glorified paper weight.

Same here...Belkin offered 20% discount on new wireless charger..20%!!!!

The story they are putting out implies that the connector is the issue and the new charger has a height adjustable connector...sounds like a crock to me. More like the regulator can’t sink enough current and keeps tripping, cause the power cycle.

Having looked in more detail, it would appear that it is possible for a manufacturer to self certify their product against the MFI program. Part of the process requires then to confirm they will adhere to the technical specifications of the MFI standard. So does this mean that Belkin self certified the Valet Charger but did NOT adhere to the technical requirements?

Husband and I both have these and I was trying to figure out how mine is still working and his doesn’t with our xs maxes. We figured out the solution tonight. I have a popsocket on mine and he didn’t. So the phone has to be tilted slightly forward and will stay charging. My popsocket was in just the right spot to space the phone away from the back bracket and cause the correct angle. He made his own version by adding a bunch of tape and a pen cap around the bracket to build up a spacer. Still moody and you have to be careful not to bump the phones once charging but they’ll charge. Hope this helps.

For anyone living in Europe, it might be worth to claim a conformity issue with the seller of the dock (so not necessarily the manufacturer Belkin, but the actual store where you bought it).

According to EU legislation "A product is faulty if it does not comply with the given description or if it cannot be used for normal purposes or the specific purposes requested by the consumer. The product is also faulty if it is not of normal quality and does not perform as can be reasonably expected."

It should be reasonably expected from a Lightning charging accessory to charge a device with a Lightning port.

I paid $281.34 for two of the Belkin Valet Docks on November 18, 2017 just 10 months ago at the Apple Store in Houston. Apple and Belkin's solution is for me to buy another pair of these units. I wonder how far I would get in small claims court. Apple should step up and either fix the software in the new phones or replace our chargers. We have the right to expect that products purchased from Apple will not be obsoleted so soon with upgraded phones. I do not have to tell you how much more I spent for two Xs Maxes. Maybe I should return the new phones before the return date passes.

That solution also doesn’t work for me. This is definitely a software issue. My XS max charges on the dock fine below 50%. Above 50% I get the same problem as everybody else (cycling between recognizing the charger/rejecting the charger). It’s probably an issue with the version of the recognition chip that the Belkin Valet is using. This is identical to the issue that certain non-sanctioned-apple charger cables have.
