iPhone XS Charging issue

Just got my brand new iPhone XS today and put it on my Belkin dual iPhone & iWatch charging stand (not the wireless one) and it repeatedly chimes the charging chime and does not stop until I unplug it from the charger? Is anyone else having this issue?

Boo, it's listed as not compatible. Here is what is compatible with each dock.

This is ridiculous. We had no way this was not future proof. It's the same connector. I completely understand and accept if it was a different connector, but in this case it isn't.

I have multiple docking stations of different brands for home office, work office, bedroom, living room. They all still work. I bought this 2 months ago and this is essentially useless. You can't even buy this in Apple stores anymore because they probably realized Belkin screwed up.

Also, you can't add to a product description that it's not compatible.

At least in Canada (Ontario), there's protection around this type of practice:

Misrepresentation

It’s illegal for the business or individual to give you false information about themselves or the product or service they offer. Some examples of misrepresentation include:

  • claiming that they have licences, accreditation or certification when they don’t
  • showing fake safety certification or accreditation for an item
  • stating that the product is a certain grade, style, model, or quality when it isn’t
  • promising to deliver a service or product when they know or should know that it’s not possible
  • recommending unnecessary repairs or replacements to items

If you have a contract with a business or individual that has misrepresented their product or service, you can withdraw from the contract within 1 year.

I have two belkin valet charger iphone (lightning) + watch (magnetic) stands. They work with the apple watch 3, iphone 7 and iphone x. They do not work with the iphone xs. It keeps oscillating between charging and not charging.

The Amazon listing now has this listed with a disclaimer that iphone xr, xs and xs max are not supported. Great.

Also same problem on XS. On the Belkin community forum there is also a discussion and someone has posted their response they got from Belkin support, basically telling them too bad so sad buy the new version of the dock. I for one am not buying any new Belkin electronic products from now on. Can't trust them to work in future even if it's certified MFI.

As a matter of interest I pulled my dock apart to see what's so special about it to justify the cost of $150 AUD. Mostly empty space in the bottom with a small lightning connector riser mechanism and a tiny circuit board splitting up the watch charger from the lightning. Must be something dodgy they included on the circuit board. I couldn't identify what part on the board would cause it to not work, there doesn't appear to be anything too fancy on it, a copper coil, some resistors and simple power regulation components.

Valid point I think. As any old iPhone cable previously owned still works with my Xs Max it appears that Bellini May be the guilty party. It is surprising that Apple have allowed this type of obsolescence to be built into a product by one of their suppliers. I too will not buy another Belki product and will ensure family and friends do likewise. Skullduggery hasnt got a look in.

This Is complete BS. I bought my Belkin Valet dock not half a year ago and now it’s essentially a paperweight. This is just a rather obvious money grab for the wireless model that’s coming out. I wanted less chords and now I have my phone charging the old way and my watch on the stand.

What good sense for the consumer does this make?

I, just like everyone else, am having the same problem with my Belkin Valet dock and my iPhone XS. I think it's absolutely ridiculous this "Made for iPhone" accessory won't work with the XS line.

However, I have found a workaround that seems to have worked for me (at least it has the last 3 nights before going to bed). I put the phone in the dock while it's locked. Once the phone is in the dock, I unlock it using Face ID. It doesn't work every time, but I have been able to get it to continue charging all night without the start/stop that it's been doing. Maybe this can help someone?
