IWatch 4 - check to see if OS 5.1.2 update is installed. If so and still nothing do this: Customize Inforgraph face for Messages & Mail via the customize function on the "watch" NOT using iPhone App... it should work. For some reason the iPhone App is not communicating all customizations.

I agree, user experience consistently is normally one of Apple's strengths and this aspect of these new faces does seem to fall short of what we've come to expect. Until they fix it.

But I didn't see anyone here 'dismiss the topic', so not sure what you mean. I'm not at all indifferent to it personally, being the second person to respond to the OP.

I had a Series 2 before upgrading to a Series 4. On the Series 2 I used the Modular watchface almost exclusively for the entire time I had the Series 2 simply because it was the watchface that had the most complications and was easy to read at a glance. I used the following complications on this watchface:

Time

Day/Date

Activity

Calendar

Battery

Weather Temp

So I never set any of the complications to mail or messages - these would come up through their own default app - I never felt the need to use up a complication for mail or messages so for me I'm not going to miss them. I know that's me and of course a lot of people DID use them as complications and are used to that and want to be able to use them on the Infographic watchfacess - all I can suggest is keep on voicing your opinions until Apple takes note and adds the ability to add mail and messages to the complications through an iOS update - then everyone is happy

Your previous watch could display Infograph with all the complications? Where did you get that? My Series 3 can’t even display Infograph after updating to WatchOS 5.

The capability of the new Infograph faces is clearly documented, and functionality of the older faces remains u changed. If they were good enough for you in previous versions you have a choice, use a different face with better complications, or use Infograph and manage without some of the complications until Apple rolls out the software patch.

TBH I think Apple has intentionally omitted the ability to add mail and message complications to the infograph watchfaces because there's simply not enough room on the watchfaces to display this information - all I envisage them doing is giving the ability to add the message and mail logos to a blank complication slot and when you touch it it opens in the relevant app. That would make more sense

Your Series 3 watch and any watch prior to Series 4 would not have the Infograph watchfaces - they are an exclusive Series 4 feature. Furthermore, watchOS 5 does not give a watch Series prior to Series 4 the Infograph watchfaces - it does give Series 1 - 4 the new fire, water, vapour and breath watchfaces but the graphics are contained in a circle for Series 1-3 and graphics go right to edge of display on Series 4

Hugely disappointing! Messages has to be the most widely used complication. We are being forced to use a watch face available on all models which is making the experience not feel remotely new or fresh. Fingers crossed Apple realized this was a blunder and fixes it in the next OS update. I love the infograph watch face but I won't use it without messages there.

Like so many here, I used the Messages complication extensively. It isn't so much that pushing it opened the Messages app; the important thing for me was being able to look at the Watch face and tell 1) whether there were any messages waiting for me and 2) if so, how many (by putting the number inside the Messages complication bubble). I used this every single day. Yes, I'm using the Infograph on my Series 4 just because it looks so darn nice, but I sure as heck do miss the Messages (and Mail) comps. I've sent feedback to Apple stating my feelings...

One other addition to this thread... I upgraded from series 2 to 4 and used old infographic with phone and message complications. the new info graphic face not only didn’t have message and mail but it doesn’t have simple phone complication. Itsgot complications for all your favorites?!!! Like I’m going to call one favorite exclusively?!?? Not only do I want/need message complication but a generic phone too!!’ Hopefully this will be fixed. Meaanwhile I’ve got both old and new infographic faces active in the watch and swipe between them when I need old vs new features. Works for now. But hopefully this won’t be a permanent problem!!

I have discovered that on my new series 4 with Infograph (I have not tried any other face) not all my email notifications come through when scrolling down fro the top of the watch screen. I get sms, WhatsApp, etc but limited email. However when I go to mail after going to app in dock all my emails are there. My previous series watch did not have this issue. Am I missing something in a setting etc or is this new in the latest version OS??
