The new Infographic faces (new to Watch 4) do not offer either Mail or Messages as configurable complications. Which seems very odd. Unless anyone else has discovered otherwise. Hopefully they will update this shortly - so for now, reverting to old watch face set-up.

Yes, they should appear in the list. Have you tried configuring/designing the new face on the watch and also on the phone via the Watch app? If they don't show up on either when you create a new face, you might want to double check - you might still be on 5.1.1. 5.1.2 came very quickly on the heels of 5.1.1 so many people did not have 5.1.1 installed yet so when they went to do an install 5.1.1 is what they got. So those folks will need to turn around and immediately re-check for a software update to force 5.1.2.

If you are certain that you are on 5.1.2 and the new face trick doesn't work, then check other complications positions - for example, I don't think messages works in the corners - only in one of the four "on face" slots on Infographic. And if that still doesn't work, then reboot both and wait 24 hours. Best of luck!

Apologies for ignorance, but how do you configure/design the new face 'on the watch'? I have only ever configured new faces on the Watch app on the phone. I do have 5.1.2. - specifically under 'About' I have: 'Version: 5.1.2(16S46) whatever that means....

Are you in the UK or the US? Just a thought but I read somewhere that the new ECG functionality only gives alerts in the U.S. so I just wonder if there are different software versions in different territories?

To initiate the configuration option on the watch itself, you press on the face very firmly. Try to pick a spot between complications so it doesn't think you are trying to initiate a complication.

I am in the US, but my understanding is that the legacy complications part of 5.1.2 are global - only the EKG stuff is limited to the US.

Ah! Many thanks for that....so if I do that, then I AM able to configure the 'new' (legacy) complications on the watch itself... but they still do not appear as configurable options on the app on the phone. Very odd. If the EKG stuff is, as you say, limited to the U.S. then that does suggest there may be more than one version of this update. If so, I'd be surprised if I'm the only person in the UK (Europe?) to come up against this issue....

Anyway, very many thanks for your help.

Yes, that worked for me also. It's a bit mysterious. Was able to customise to include e.g. mail and messages via the watch, but not via the app (where these new options did not appear). However, trying to 're-cutomize' an existing face (i.e. change the complications again) resulted in the watch freezing up completely. Re-started it and, oddly, all available complications now appear on both watch and app.

this fully works on my wife’s new Apple Watch 4 but doesn’t work on mine?! When I set using the iPhone watch app to messages complication on the infograph face - it looks like the green message bubble on iPhone app but on watch face mine is blank. Has this been fixed and I’m missing something for my message account?! I’m assuming on mine it’s some setting but no one has said since nov/December 2018 that this is fixed so can anyone help?!!!?
