Buzzing Earpiece iPhone Xs

When my iPhone Xs is at max volume during phone calls I often hear a high pitched “buzzing” or “crackling” sound coming from the earpiece when the person on the other end of the call is talking.

Has anyone else been experiencing this problem?

Just to update, I brought my phone in to the Apple Store with this issue and they swapped it out for a new one but the new one is having the exact same problem.

I decided to test other iPhone Xs models that were in store and all of them had the exact same issue from the earpiece/receiver when playing audio at high volumes (especially things like piano music).

I'm convinced this represents a hardware problem and will be returning the phone this week. I love everything else about the phone, but unfortunately, I need it to function well as a phone.

Ok, I just got off the call with apple support. They spoke to me for half an hour and ran diagnostics remotely. According to them there is nothing wrong with the hardware, based on the diagnostics. They have asked me to do a restore. Let’s see how it pans out. What about you ? Any solution guys! ? Has anyone actually solved the problem? Either by restore, repair or by replacement?

Interesting. I went through the same steps. Apple hardware check did also not bring up any issues. They also advised me to do a restore which I did but didn't help. I guess they will ask you to turn off LTE for voice and check if the issue also persists during WiFi and Facetime calls (which does in my case).

My follow up call with Apple is scheduled for 10:30 this morning. I will give you an update afterwards.

So I had a call with Apple today. They told me that they got some feedback from development. Development is aware of this issue and taking care of it, since a lot more people have reported it in the meantime. Unfortunately, they do not have a solution yet.

Nevertheless, everyone who as an open case regarding this will be informed by Apple once they have a solution. Of course, it does not solve the issue for now but I am very happy that they are now taking care of it and have realized that there is an actual problem (be it software or hardware related) that affects not only a few people out there.

I upgraded from 7+ to XS first day XS came out. By day two every time I was on a call the other person said there was a crackling or static sound they only heard when I wasn’t talking. There was no specific time into the call or length it would last so I took it in and they said my speakers and mic were broken. I got a new phone and the problem came back again by day 2. I am very excited to hear I am not alone in this one because the store staff was at a loss and that concerned me. I even had someone ask if I really needed to talk on the phone! So the primary thing a phone should be used for isn’t working and I was being told just to not talk....spent 2 days back and forth between my phone carrier and apple store and I really don’t think I can deal with another trip back. Sorry for the rant, but I’ve been waiting awhile for this to be fixed.

I've had XS for a week now. Crackling noise is still present. If this is what it is with every XS or XS max out there, this ain't right. Every time I get a call or call someone, I hear this noise. This bugs because it makes me not satisfied with my purchase which I paid everything in full. For a phone that is well over 1k, I expect much better experience. Apple failed to deliver that this time. I'm going back to my beloved iPhone 7, till of course Apple fix this.

My xs is horrible regarding earpiecd sound. Tried to get repaired under warra ty and the result was “everything is alright”. Although i demonstrated that the earpiece speaker us crackling. As i can see, it does not handle exact tones- for example Armin-blah blah-first 20 seconds i can hear loud ceackling from the top speaker. The same when i play for example this song on tv and record it on iphone canera. Bottom speaker is ok. The ceackle is present in some parts of another videos, games, also original ringtones. I was refused and told that apple knows about this and refuses to repkace the 1400 eur phone under warranty!! I cannot zse it in normal way as sound is mostly disgusting

Just to update my experience. I was advised by apple support to restore my iPhone and set it up as new and I did that yesterday. Yesterday for a while the phone worked fine. But today again I have the same crackling issue on most calls. I think this is a software issue which apple needs to rectify asap. I hope apple is listening. I am tired of this.

Hy, i am from Germany and i have still the same problem with my Iphone Xs.

I also hab the problem with my iphone X, i have changed it in the Apple Store this summer, but the new one had the same problem.

There is this crakling sound by phone calls and when i hear music in this frequences.

I buy the xs, because i have hoped it will be better, but the same Problem like the X.

Yesterday i get an iphone Xr, it sound clear and with no crackling. But i don‘t want an Xr. I bring it back to Apple next week. I only buy it to check the sound.

I there still someone who have no crackling?
