Buzzing Earpiece iPhone Xs

When my iPhone Xs is at max volume during phone calls I often hear a high pitched “buzzing” or “crackling” sound coming from the earpiece when the person on the other end of the call is talking.

Has anyone else been experiencing this problem?

I am using the developer betas and sending them feedback constantly about the issue.

The most annoying part is that even the default ringtones like “Opening” will crackle a bit at maximum volume from the earpiece.

To replicate the issue even better, go on YouTube and listen some piano music at maximum volume, it will crackle horribly.

Yes, the issue was present on iPhone 8 Plus also and was fixed with a software update and the same could be done on our XS’s if Apple will realize this is a widespread issue.

They just need to tone down a certain frequency and it won’t affect the maximum volume at all.

If enough people will provide feedback to Apple, i’m certain this will be sorted quickly.

same problem. replaced the display, but nothing has changed. the service center said that they can not do anything more and need to wait for corrections, but in the Russian support they say that they do not know about this problem, so they will not fix anything. I hope that the United States recognizes that running a marriage and begin to take some kind of action.

I just tried (and failed) to reproduce the reported problem on my XS Max (A2101). At maximum volume with no speech on the line (I phoned myself from another phone) I can hear a little white noise (hiss) but it is very low level and unobtrusive. I'm not sure if that was noise in the audio amplifier at max gain or amplified background on the incoming signal, but it would not be noticeable if I wasn't listening specifically for it. In a second test with normal conversation it was only noticeable when the other person was not speaking (but their voice was also uncomfortably loud at max volume). So... either a difference between US and Rest of World models, or... your guess is as good as mine.

Same here, i was thinking about replacing my iPhone but it seems it's a wide spread problem. The noise is kiling me,it happens on speaker calls and normal calls on higher than 50 percent volume. It seems it's the frequency of the sound that's important, since it happens when you are in a chat on telegram app and when that person sends you a reply that specific sound is having that noise too. It's killing me since this phone is a lot of money. And I'm sensitive to this stuff. Just had a phone which I'm not going to name which was working better than a 1100 dollars iphone in managing this stuff but since it doesn't happen in music apps and stuff i bet it can be rectified with software, hardware problem happens everywhere but this is specific to certain situations. We need to go on media like the 10 second stutter that went viral

Hello,

same issue here, iphone xs on iOS 12.2 - 1 week old, crackling and buzzing sound when on a normal call via provider (Belgium - Proximus) and sound above 50%. Less crackling sound when on FaceTime Audio call but still there.

Had a call with Apple, iphone already configured as a new iphone, new SIM card installed, no better sound. Then went to an Apple Store, no one of the 3 technicians wanted to hear the crackling sound, not even after i asked them to go in a quieter room...so finally i have to

live with that were they answer :-| Every people to whom i give my iphone hear the annoying sound. Have another friend with an iphone xs with the same issue.

As an iphone fan till hour 1 i‘m very disappointed! Please Apple find and fix the issue!

Since October of last year, I've been exchanging and complaining regularly with Apple support. The device was exchanged several times, my contact person was changed several times and many hours of my lifetime were wasted. Now my support case will be closed because Apple has no further idea what can be done. The technical department informs that it can't be a hardware defect, because the device has already been replaced twice. It is assumed that the noise is caused by the surrounding conditions (house, region, network coverage).

Of course, this statement is complete nonsense, because with an iPhone 7 and the same SIM card there are no problems at all. Apple simply blames the problem on the situation at the customer's premises. No insight that there may be a software problem here that occurs at the customer due to various factors.

I am extremely disappointed by the way Apple deals with customer problems and at the same time horrified by the arrogance with which they do it.

I can only hope that the problem will soon be solved with a software update. To be honest, after 7 months I am sick and tired of dealing with the support. I hope that someone else will have more success with the customer support.
