Buzzing Earpiece iPhone Xs

When my iPhone Xs is at max volume during phone calls I often hear a high pitched “buzzing” or “crackling” sound coming from the earpiece when the person on the other end of the call is talking.

Has anyone else been experiencing this problem?

I am using the developer betas and sending them feedback constantly about the issue.

The most annoying part is that even the default ringtones like “Opening” will crackle a bit at maximum volume from the earpiece.

To replicate the issue even better, go on YouTube and listen some piano music at maximum volume, it will crackle horribly.

Yes, the issue was present on iPhone 8 Plus also and was fixed with a software update and the same could be done on our XS’s if Apple will realize this is a widespread issue.

They just need to tone down a certain frequency and it won’t affect the maximum volume at all.

If enough people will provide feedback to Apple, i’m certain this will be sorted quickly.

So I had a call with Apple today. They told me that they got some feedback from development. Development is aware of this issue and taking care of it, since a lot more people have reported it in the meantime. Unfortunately, they do not have a solution yet.

Nevertheless, everyone who as an open case regarding this will be informed by Apple once they have a solution. Of course, it does not solve the issue for now but I am very happy that they are now taking care of it and have realized that there is an actual problem (be it software or hardware related) that affects not only a few people out there.

I upgraded from 7+ to XS first day XS came out. By day two every time I was on a call the other person said there was a crackling or static sound they only heard when I wasn’t talking. There was no specific time into the call or length it would last so I took it in and they said my speakers and mic were broken. I got a new phone and the problem came back again by day 2. I am very excited to hear I am not alone in this one because the store staff was at a loss and that concerned me. I even had someone ask if I really needed to talk on the phone! So the primary thing a phone should be used for isn’t working and I was being told just to not talk....spent 2 days back and forth between my phone carrier and apple store and I really don’t think I can deal with another trip back. Sorry for the rant, but I’ve been waiting awhile for this to be fixed.

Just to update my experience. I was advised by apple support to restore my iPhone and set it up as new and I did that yesterday. Yesterday for a while the phone worked fine. But today again I have the same crackling issue on most calls. I think this is a software issue which apple needs to rectify asap. I hope apple is listening. I am tired of this.

Hy, i am from Germany and i have still the same problem with my Iphone Xs.

I also hab the problem with my iphone X, i have changed it in the Apple Store this summer, but the new one had the same problem.

There is this crakling sound by phone calls and when i hear music in this frequences.

I buy the xs, because i have hoped it will be better, but the same Problem like the X.

Yesterday i get an iphone Xr, it sound clear and with no crackling. But i don‘t want an Xr. I bring it back to Apple next week. I only buy it to check the sound.

I there still someone who have no crackling?

I returned my first one and currently looking to see if I should give it another shot. My old iPhone 7 is serving me well, but I waited for this upgrade for such a long time! It seems that every XS and XS max has the same issue, but some people are just insensitive to this crackling sound or they don't use the speaker at all but instead use bluetooth or speaker phone.

Definitely not each has the same issue. There are some batches with the issue, not all. I tried some xs,s in the shop and they were ok. I think that people here have different problems. Those who have only with calls and those with defected speaker (piano riff- no way that only sensitive people hear noise as you can hear it on 1 meter like device is blow off).
