Setting up my keychain with number phone number

I am trying to set up keychain on my new iPhone but my phone keeps sending the code to wrong number. How do I change my number to set up keychain?

iPhone 8, iOS 12

How to change phone number associated with Keychain? There is a logical infinite loop in the way Keychain handles 2-factor authentication. If you lost access to the phone number that is associated with your Keychain (or apple id) and you want to CHANGE that setting to update the number to your new phone number, Keychain will send an authentication code to the phone number that you lost access to and are TRYING to change in the first place! Is there any way out of this mess other than having to call tech support?

Your iCloud keychain is tied to your Apple ID, not your telephone number directly.

Have you kept your Apple ID and somehow changed its telephone number?
