Email Notifications on Apple Watch not working since IOS upgrade

Hi. Same problem - no mail preview, haptic or sound notification - just the red notification ‘spot’. Tried everything - an hour or two of my life I’ll never get back. Eventually Apple Support did say it’s a ‘known problem’ and ‘engineers’ are working on it. Guess it’s just a question of waiting for a software update.

Thank you!! Had the same problem with watch 3, after upgrading to 5.1.1. Don’t have cellular so not really a problem but irritating all the same. Added an outlook account and all *seems* to be working fine.

Unfortunately I have the same problem! I have an iPhone X iOS 12.1 and I tried the same steps you did. I am almost sure my problem (at least) is the watchOS 5.0.1 because I had a watch series 1 and was working normal with watchOS 5. Then I upgraded to series 4 (on sep 21st), watchOS 5 and everything was ok. But when I had the watchOS 5.0.1 my problems get started.... now I see that is a new watchOS update. I’ll see what happens tonight!

I have had a similar experience and have spent more hours than I care to admit on this. with the recent software upgrades for the watch and phone this seems to be 90% resolved. I am now getting the haptics. the red dot most of the time. you cannot get notifications on your watch if the phone screen is open. it then goes to the phone.

This is really frustrating. Something in the iOS 12 / watchOS 5 combination has broken mail notifications on the Apple Watch. Reboots, restarts, unpairing/re-pairing, switching things on, switching things off... Apple needs to figure out what they broke and fix it. Mail notifications are the most fundamental functionality of the Watch. They have worked flawlessly through 2 watches, 3 phones and multiple OS updates ... until now. Walkie Talkie, EKG, Radio ... who cares? Get the watch to buzz, show and hold mail notifications!

So frustrating that the native apple mail app on an apple watch doesn't work correctly to display native apple notifications. This stuff should all be well baked into the devices and software.

Hi, Finally it’s working. For all accounts I have set all notifications and working on watch as should. IPhone XS Max 12.1 and watch 5.1.1.

I have exactly the same problem. iPhone X and Apple Watch 3 fully up to date, email notifications have stopped working on the watch, exactly as Bestro007 describes. Everything else is fine. Mine stopped working with the iOS 12.0.1 and WatchOS 5.0.1 updates.

Same issue. iPhone X, Apple Watch 4. Both up to date.

Notifications/e-mail alerts have been VERY sporadic since the latest Watch OS update. Notifications will sometimes appear but with no sounds or haptics, other times they are on the phone but not on the watch.

I've rebooted both devices, un-paired and re-paired the watch. Nothing seems to work. Can anyone else confirm whether the backup/restore mentioned previously has been effective for them?

Same issue. Day old Series 4 running OS 5.1 and an iPhone 6s running iOS 12.0.1. No email notifications and nothing showing in the Notification Center but all emails present and correct when I open the email app on the watch!

Apple Watch Series 3, WatchOS 5.0.1, iOS 12.0.1, iPhone XS

Everything was working fine until I got a new iPhone and iOS 12.

Emails don't show up on watch.

Email notifications don't show up.

Mirror iPhone or Custom settings, same result.

I have re-paired my watch 3x and doesn't fix it.

I have spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple Support and they claim that they are unaware of the problem and they are waiting on an engineer to respond.

This is very disappointing.

Most of the attention around 5.1.1 is that is doesn't brick the watch (there was a 5.1 release within the past week that did). I've seen some blurb about some new emojis and a couple of watch faces but nothing that specifically mentions a fix for Mail Notifications.

I'm going to try it tonight and see if anything changes

Same here - updated, re-paired, hours with Apple Support - ‘known issue’ etc (and yawn). I’m getting email previews (sometimes) haptic feedback (sometimes) never sound notifications for email at all (on the watch). I have to say (though it is ALL so random it’s hard to be 100% accurate) - I’m not always getting sound notifications on the iPhone either. So - is it iOS on the phone or on the watch that’s failing?? Rheotirical question. Don’t really care - something worked once - it doesn’t now - Apple have my money (quite a lot of it) and have ‘un-improved’ things (I’m restraining myself - but it rhymes with ‘mucked things up’) and yet seem incapable of putting what they’ve put WRONG - RIGHT !!! All this for Walkie Talkie ???? Come ON ..!!!!!
