Screen flicker on iPhone XS

I’ve just noticed this on my max. Only on certain pictures saved from web or very colorful pictures. Not a strobing flicker, more like an extremely quick pulsing on the image. I did turn off trutone and wait about 20 seconds and doesn’t do it. It’s something to do with certain colors and combined with light areas. For example: if I look at a picture outside or in bright lights, no issues. If I’m in a poor lit room with ambient outdoor light, it will flicker bad until I hold the phone steady for a minute or so.....

Just turn off rise to wake and that’s fine ;)

Software issue for sure it is!!!

I had this issue too. Very annoying!

I turned off reduce white point and I no longer have the issue. I think the flicker might occur at the point your resuce white point is set to, it was that point for me anyway.

i founded the issue is related with night-shift, true-tone and screen record.

night-shift on + true-tone on: flickering

night-shift off + true-tone on: flickering

night-shift on + true-tone off: flickering

night-shift off + true-tone off: no flickering

if you open the screen record, there's no any issue.

I have the normal Xs and i run the screen with all the auto dim crap turned off and i noticed while using cetain apps the brightness will all of a sudden dim a bit then hold, then it may brighten back up and dim again. Im running 12.1.4 and like i said i dont use auto, true tone, night shift or any of that stuff

It has never been fixed at least in the official version. 12.1.3 came out today, screen flickering is still present. I don't think Apple is aware of this issue yet.

This absolutely does not work

I’ve been noticing this. It’s very annoying.

Moving from a bright room to a dark room, the screen slowly dims. When it gets very dim (below 20%), there is a sudden single flicker like the brightness dropping suddenly. It happens every time and it’s also possible to reproduce this by manually (very slowly) moving the brightness slider down. When the slider hits that same point (around 20%), you see the drop.

I should add I’m on an Xs Max...so potentially software if it’s happening on both Xs models. Seen some other posts on this including one person who had 2 Xs Max models and both were doing it, and another who got a replacement only to find it was doing the same.

So you replaced your iPhone XS because of the Screen Flicker and the replacement is doing the same issue? I have the same issue and was about to go to the Apple Store to get replacement but if maybe the new phone will have the same issue then I will wait to the new iOS 12.1, what do you think?

I have the iPhone XS Max and I don’t even have to go into a room It does it on any app and I’ve done everything I can think of to make it stop. The flickering light is blinding. I just tap it to turn it on and it flicks and it doesn’t matter what I’m doing. I wish Apple would do more testing before they release their phones. There is always something wrong with them. I have the 510 GB and this thing cost me $1570. More than my MacBook Pro. It’s really upsetting.

I also notice it on my xs max. It seems to do it in low light in various applications. I even noticed when the Face ID didn’t read it did it once. I believe it’s a software issue. Just because every phone isn’t affected doesn’t mean anything. The charging issue with some of the Xs phones earlier never happened on mine. So hopefully apple will fix the issue soon. Not a big issue but still annoying

So true. I just wish Apple paid more attention to the isues. Even my Apple Watch Series 4 is bricked due to the latest update. Took a week to get an appointment for Tuesday. Never had issues before.
