Mac OS Mojave Scanner Not Working

Hi,

Installed Mac OS Mojave yesterday, my printer (Samsung M2070) cannot scan any kind of document. The problem is that it returns an error when I try to scan with JPEG, TIFF etc.

Anyone find a workaround? All functions of the printer work great in High Sierra.

Hi guys,

Same here: I have a Samsung C460W (basically the same as Stargoose above) and it's not scanning as it should. It does all the preview steps, scan and fails when trying to save as image (PNG, JPEG, etc.) with an error message.

If I choose PDF, it succeeds in saving a file, which is corrupted and can't be opened by any app (Preview, Acrobat or any other). It's connected via WiFi to my LAN. Prior to Mojave, it was working fine.

I've tried removing all the printers and adding again: useless.

On the other hand, using the provided software (Samsung Easy Printer Manager, v1.02.07 (2015-07-06)) the scanner works perfectly.

When will Apple release a statement/solution for this matter?

Hey andrelmsantos
I also installed Samsung Easy Printer Manager, v1.02.07 but when I attempt to scan is lets me know the scanner software is not installed and I can't find any separate scanner software on their website. Please help. Thanks

Samsung’s printer business was purchased by HP so you might try HP’s support site to see if updated drivers compatible with macOS 10.14 Mojave. With every major update to macOS we see printer problems on mainly older printers because the manufacturers choose not to update their drivers.

I stumbled onto a way to make my Epson 3750 scan. I went to System Preferences, selected Printers & Scanners, clicked on the Epson 3750 icon, selected scan, selected Open Scanner, clicked on Scan and it did.

You might also see this link. There is an updated driver that supports macOS Mojave.

Hi all!

I'm glad to say that macOS 10.4.4 seem to (partially) fix the problems, at least for my Samsung CLX-3815FW.

I say partially because now I can scan in color and save to almost all formats. The only format still with problems is PDF.

Savings as JPEG, JPEG200, GIF, TIFF, BMP and PNG works now.

When saving as PDF, if not "combining" (putting all scanned pages in the same PDF file), the produced PDF is not readable. If "combining", Image Capture just crashes!!!

I've checked the produced PDF file (created in non-combining mode) and it looks like some, even all, of the scan image's data is there, it's just the headers that are wrong or corrupted (the "file" command that examines the start of files to determine it's type can't recognize it).

So we are getting there. Too bad that PDF and "single-PDF" (combine) that are the most useful options are still not working. But at least Apple recognizes that the problem in on their turf, not the printers' manufacturers.

I have stong hopes for 10.4.5 (but with the Mail issue with GMail, my guess 10.4.5 is just around the corner, so 10.4.6 is more likely).

I would love to see other reports regarding other printers.

Hi,

As I wrote earlier: I have a canon Pixma TS9550 and was not able to scan with any of the possibilities there are- such as through the print/scan option, through preview or through Image Capture.

I then disabled the IPv6 address in the PRINTERS network preferences and everything was solved. All sorts of files- A4 to jpg to pdf etc.

I am running Mojave 10.14.3 on a Macbook Pro 15 mid 2015.

Hello,

I have exactly the same issue as described by ahvlima:

In my case with my Samsung SCX-3405W. Printer connected via WiFi (2,4 GHz), installed via bonjour, fixed IP.

IPv6 address disabled in printer settings. Running Mojave 10.14.4.

This problem can be fixed and Cannon with help you. I suggest calling their tech support to walk you through because there is both a driver as well as another file that you won't find on your own. The driver alone will not work. The Mac communicate fine once the right software was in place. You may have to hold for a tech but worth it.

So it my understanding, that Apple has requested manufacturers use only Airprint drivers, drivers written collaboratively with various manufacturers and Apple, to preform print and scan functions. These "drivers" are only available from Apple. Most manufacturers have not, and will not, publish drivers for Mojave on there websites for newer hardware. This change has been at the behest of Apple. Apple wishes to retain full control over how non-Apple hardware interacts with their OS. Therefore, Apple should be supporting the fix for these issues.

Ah, no.

I hope this isn’t true! Better than control would be an original idea. They seem to be running after other companies. Streaming now? Does Apple really expect folks to just change their service after having it for several years.

I’m dreading this switch to 64 from 32. Daily, I get a message that an app needs to be updated and I have not found any that have addressed this. I began with an Apple IIc. I use to Love my Macs. Not so much now. I may never upgrade again. 🙁

Any and all developers who are worth their salt have already converted their apps to 64 bit. You may still have earlier versions of these apps and have decided not to update because of costs. So be it. Software moves on just like any other technology product. For example, Microsoft Office is currently at version Office 2019 yet people are still using the Office 2008 version or version Office 2011. Office 2008 and Office 2011 will cease to function after the move to 64 bit only. Two solutions: 1) Don’t upgrade to the next version of macOS or 2) Do upgrade Office 2008 to Office 2019 to stay current. Staying current costs money. You will probably NOT be getting free updates to some software and other products may simply be abandoned by their developers. Macs have been 64 bit machines for years now and it’s time for the software to catch up. I currently have an Epson WF-2860 all-in-one printer/copier/scanner/fax. Epson has been slowly updating its drivers and utility apps to 64 bit over the last six months so I’m confident my Epson printer will work with the new 64 bit only macOS when it is released. I also have an HP Laserjet 1022 printer that was released in 2005, 14 years ago. it is currently working just fine with macOS 10.14.4 Mojave. I know that all bets are off when the move to 64 bit happens because it’s highly doubtful that HP would make the effort to support an almost 15 year old product. Such is life.
