Dead phone - iPhone XS Max - 256gb Silver

So this has happened to me twice.

Both time occurred before upgrading to 12.0.1

I have noticed in both occasion I was answering the call via BT. First time the phone was in black screen and I hanged up via the car hang up button. And the phone will not wake up from sleep. It took over 6 hours and trying different power source and cable- it finally rebooted using iPad Pro power brick and original Apple cable. I was told to enable use of USB for recovery.

Second time it happened- same thing in BT. The phone app also hanged. I can’t disconnect the phone call (ended up having my wife hang up). The phone app can’t be exited. Swipe up won’t work. Can’t turn phone off. Can’t reboot. Took over 2 hours to finally reboot. It just worked after couple hours. I was told to upgrade to 12.0.1. The problem hasn’t returned.

The soft reset didnt work initialy. I went tonthe Astore . A apple employee tried to help me at the entrance with the soft reset. (up, down, power) but didn’t work and the offered me „HELP“ if I wait at least 6!!! Hours. Unblievable for 1400€ And 4 weeks old. So i decided to go home. Later one, I donˋt kn ow why I tried the soft reset again at the iphone woke up. Houston we have definetely a Problem 😠😠😠

Get a new phone. Mine died after 8 hours of activating the phone. Thankfully it happened while I was at the Apple store (for another reason). They'll swap it for you but I would suggest getting AppleCare even if the phone is dead to make things easier for both parties.

Try rebooting your phone before you visit the service center:

• Press and quickly release the volume up button
• Press and quickly release the volume down button
• Press and continuously hold the power button (keep holding past the swipe to shutdown if it appears) until the Apple logo appears, then let go and hopefully your phone will restart.

It happens occasionally. If it happens often, take it to your Apple Store for evaluation. Every now and then, wouldn't be cause for concern. I reboot my phone after every iOS update religiously. Maybe incorporate that into your iOS update routine as well.

Yeah we tried this multiple times. Nothing worked. They said I got a "DOA" phone. They swapped it though. Good customer service as always.

That worked for me when I took it to the ATT store.

Fine one minute, then nothing. this is absolutely disgusting

ThIs worked for me but I’m troubled as to why the phone would be inoperable on a full battery. Any ideas?
