macOS Mojave battery drain

Just updated my OS to Mojave this morning and brought my laptop to work. It was on full charge when I left home. 2hrs after using it, the battery percentage was down to 40% which never happened before during any of my regular use. Also, the texts on the screen are blurry.

Ok, so i solved this problem on my MacBook Pro 13'' (Early 2015). It turned out that battery drain was caused by fully loaded CPU (almost 100%). So, you can check this out, just open Activity Monitor (Finder - Apps - Utilities) and then look up for CPU tab. And then just watch which apps and processes uses your CPU. You can also check out other tabs and overall system and CPU load.

So it turned out that my CPU was used by the process called "qemu system x86_64 mac" and this was the reason my MacBook Pro had zero battery after about 3 hours after full charge. If you have the same process, just google the name of it and then you'll find the link to the thread on Apple Community on how to delete it (it's not that simple tho).

It really worked for me so my macbook works fine right now.

Problem solved after 2months!!!!!!!!!!

I have (had) this terrible issue for 2months.. very frustrating ... and contacting Apple via twitter/chat/phone for the last two months. They are really amateur and every time they told me something crazy to check! for sure the problem is New OS Mojave but they don't accept and want to check from A-Z.

I tried all the solutions mentioned here but they didn't work.

Last thing that I checked was resetting SMC. Since 3 days ago the problem is 80% solved but not completely. now the battery lasts more and less consumption during sleeping mode. But still, I have some fluctuations in battery percentage for example it increase from 75% to 76%!!

Reset SMC in MacBook pro2016: 1- turn off the laptop > 2: hold (shift + control + option + power) for 10sec

Here is how to reset SMC: How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

Hope it helps you!

Really sorry for Apple!!

As I continued observing, my battery during sleep/hibernate mode (default)... looks like the battery draining issue solved on my mbpro 13 retina. only consumed 3-5% max on overnight.

macOS High Sierra v10.13.6 updated via appstore to macOS Mojave v10.14.1, I did:

- reduce motion in accessibility/Display

- stop auto update on appstore

- turn off location services

- untick auto adjust brightness

and this works on my side...

But, normal usage battery draining issue still remains the same. from 100% to 5% in 4hrs max... mostly safari and messages apps using significant energy.

Informing Apple via tweeter and they always give me this link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204054?cid=tw_sr

Don't even bother telling "Apple is working in it, blah blah blah... nothing from them"
