iPhone XS Max poor signal

Getting really bad signal or no signal at all in places where my iPhone X had no problems before, anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix?

Hey Alexwho,

If I understand correctly, your signal strength could be better.

There are a few things you can do.

  1. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
  2. Check you iPhone Update latest version of iOS
  3. check for Update your carrier settings on your iPhone
  4. Finally reset your Network setting
    1. tap Setting
    2. General
    3. Reset
    4. Reset Network Setting

BE careful This resets Wi fi networks and passwords of wifi, cellular settings, APN Setting, and VPN connection

Best Regards

Same issues here. Lower signal than my iphone X I had just before bmgetting this XS Max. Currently Apple engineers has me doing logging on cellular for 24hrs. Have been working with them since launch. My wife’s has the same issues. It is like the phone is switching bands too aggressivley and that the wireless chip is doing the same.

My iPhone XS Max is been having poor signal since day one. After update 12.0.1 charging problems were fixed it, but signal and connection still horrible. Besides that, now Im having problems with my Bluetooth. It is droping my connection with my headphones and speakers. Even when they are next each other. My calls still have low quality, sometimes people can not hear me. what a shame.!

I hear you. I love this phone but signal strength issues are driving me nuts. I’ve even tried getting a brand new SIM card in the hope that would maybe help. But it made no difference. I had hoped the latest update might fix it. But sadly no. I cannot understand Apple not fixing this issue. I’d rather have seen them fix the signal strength in the XS than give us 70 new emojis 😕

I’m also hoping it’s not hardware. I do see some improvements but it’s hard to tell. I keep comparing it to my x and I’m seeing pretty much the same LTE. WiFi is definitely stronger on the XS but who knows. The only thing that makes me think it’s software is that there’s a lot of the same complaints about ip6,7,8 customers are losing service too.

I hope it is software related. I just haven't seen any acknowledgement from Apple about the issue. If im in the car next to my wife and she has the iphone X when my phone goes to 3g, her phone still shows LTE. I have checked this in multiple spots. I also am getting more complaints from people on the other end saying they the call is breaking up. As for Wifi, I cant comment on that. I have an unlimited data plan so I usually leave the Wifi off because I feel the websites load quicker when they arent looking for Wifi.

I’ve also been facing problems. I have 4 lines under my name which would be my new iPhone XS Max, my iPad Pro, a Samsung S8 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy Tab E. All devices receive reception except my XS Max. I take my iPad everywhere to but now due to this issue, I now have Turn on my hotspot on the iPad so that I can send messages through social media apps. I still cannot receive or send calls on the phone. I cannot send/recieve text messages unless it is a through Facebook Messenger or Instagram from my ipad’s available hotspot. I’ve taken video of my location(s) and the videos show my XS Max having no signal whatsoever but the iPad sitting right next to it has full signal and data. My previous iPhone 7 Plus worked just as well as the iPad and other devices.

Personally, I

think it is a hardware issue because Verizon couldn’t figure out a problem. They sent me a brand new device replacement and to no surprise, the same thing is occurring. They still cannot figure it out. This is really bothersome because of its price and expectations.

I’ve already responded to this before but I’m so excited about what I found. I went to settings>cellular>Cellular Data Options>Roaming On>Enable LTE. I turned Enable LTE off and back on and the signal strength went to 3 to 4 bars. It doesn’t keep the 3 to 4 bars for a long time but after I turn Enable LTE off and on again it goes right back to 3 to 4 bars. It has to be a software problem somewhere that needs fixing. All of my older iPhones have full bars.

It’s heartbreaking. Over $2,000 for a phone that can’t make or receive phone calls because the low signal strength causes the quality of a call to be horrendous. Some days I have 1 bar signal strength and I bar wifi. And that’s in an area that has excellent cell phone

coverage.

Come on Apple. Own this and resolve it or recall and refund all the XS phones.

I had the same problem. I solved my problem by resetting my network on my iPhone. I was advised by my carrier to do this. At the same time the carrier reset my network settings on her end. This is what I’ve had to do every time I’ve bought a new iPhone. My iPhone Xs Max was dropping calls and I wasn’t getting a strong signal. All of this changed after I did the resetting of my network settings. You go to settings > general > reset > reset network settings. If you do this you must do this in conjunction with your carrier resetting your network settings on their end also. This is what I’ve had to do every time I’ve bought a new iPhone for it to work properly. I hope this can work for you.
