Cover flow missing - Mojave Gallery is no replacement?

Has Apple ever brought old features back from previous OS updates before? Just curious.

It's a mixed bag. Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don't. Search for Colour labels, for instance. But what is clear is that they won't unless you tell them about it.

I can't believe this either! That's pure madness of the macOS developer team.

The only thing we all can do is to contact Apple and complain about this ridiculous change. Please do so!

No, I've suggested Pathfinder. There are search engines that you can use to educate yourself about alternatives you may prefer.

Just as extra to everyone reading this, I send a new Request to Apple everyday on Feedback, as do most of the other people I know who desperately need Cross Flow back in Mojave. It's worth a try!

I used Cover Flow so much that I'm actually considering downgrading, in order to get it back

Or, just use one of the apps that include Coverflow...

So, Gallery view gives a preview in one pane, thumbnails on the bottom,

but file info in the right hand pane and you use the left and right arrow keys

to scroll through with each step giving you a preview image and informative

file information. Where's the problem?

The problem is that you get a lot less info on the screen at a time. Cover flow is like flipping through a filing cabinet, whereas Gallery is like having a stack of papers and only looking at one at a time. Cover flow lets you easily see about 7 items at a time.

Terence, one thing that it seems like you’re pushing for is simply conveying the knowledge that a third party paid app exists and that people can leave a note to Apple, but that there should be no more discussion here if it’s just about why people miss cover flow.

Shutting down a place for people to voice their opinions discounts how a lot of forum discussions like this actually lead to change. More people commenting on a forum like this boosts SEO and raises awareness of the issue. People who don’t usually go out of their way to voice opinions to Apple can now see there’s a community behind the issue and it’s worth sending feedback. It’s kinda like how many people don’t vote if a candidate they want has no chance of winning, but if they think they do, they’ll make sure they go and do it.

If Apple were to remove Bootcamp support in the next version, I’d want that issue to be talked about in every forum on the Internet. Discussion leads to awareness and awareness is to the first step to change.

Agreed. Apple is a multi-billion dollar company and they didn't get there by not taking advantage of "EVERY" opportunity to learn what "buyers" want. Just because they don't post here, doesn't mean they don't have people paid to lurk on this forum. That's probably one of the reasons they host this forum - so they can more easily learn what people are saying.

BTW, I also frequent the Apple Feedback page, to address issues like this. But when any developer drops a great tool, I'll shout about it everywhere, in the hope that the developer will more quickly get the message.
