Cover flow missing - Mojave Gallery is no replacement?

Why would Apple replace Cover flow with gallery? They are different

1st - Cover flow was a fast and informative method of scrolling thru visual files quickly as images, while also viewing a list of data below. I could see any data I wanted, dates, sizes, and critical COMMENTS that I make with all my files. As I work I NEED to see that data when scrolling thru images!

2nd - I Prefer the vertical nature of Cover flow because I could open multiple narrow windows, and nest them beside one another. I cannot open multiple windows of Gallery and do the same, inefficient use of screen space and lack of data.

3rd - And worst - Gallery does NOT support mouse scrolling??? due to the horizontal nature of the gallery file list.

Horrible design

PLEASE BRING BACK COVERFLOW !! Add it in addition to Gallery for those of us who depend on it for our work

macOS Mojave (10.14), coverflow gallery

Other than Path Finder, you can still download Finder from El Capitan and use that (I can send you a link if you need it). File Cabinet Pro has a Cover Flow View. https://apptyrant.com/file-cabinet-pro-help/ and so does Panic's Transmit (also a full File Editor) https://panic.com/transmit/

I still really miss it built into Finder though! (the Capitan version doesn't work in Dark Mode)

Time will tell.
The amount of Graphics Studios that use Cover Flow as an everyday tool is unreal. It will only take several of the big operators to flip machines to a competitor that facilitates this and Apple would start to feel it I am sure.

The amount of people I have talked to who are downgrading rather than staying with Mojave due to this is a point in itself that the new Gallery is not only rubbish but backward in technology.

This a total audacity.

I feel like Apple is trying to make finder worse with this release. The benefit wasn’t of the 3D effect but it DID help to see 5 big previews at a time. My response:

Metadata was already there! Now we’re in as comfortable of a user interface as windows explorer.

In order to make gallery view useful, we need to be able to make the thumbnails at the bottom bigger and smaller. That’s really the main thing that’s missing. If those thumbnails could

Be made almost as big as the main thumbnail, the functionality is back.

Oh yeah, and the list of files down below. Also required. Sets the finder apart from the explorer. Not to mention the swipe gesture to scroll through?

You kidding?

Yeah, I'm not suggesting getting off topic, but the description for this forum is: "Find answers, ask questions, and connect with our community of Apple users from around the world" (after all the URL for this page is discussions.apple.com). People are just trying to connect with others about what they're doing about this when some of their jobs depended on that feature (many photographers especially).

The link you gave does say this "Constructive feedback about product features is welcome." As long as that's what's happening, then that should be highly encouraged.

I agree 100%. Cover flow was one of the best features of High Sierra. I regret updating to Mojave. I am tired of these frequent updates where they simply change things right when we learn how to take advantage of them. It is like the IOS, always changing features once you finally learn how to use them. iBooks is one example, they keep changing how it looks and how your files are organised, messing up things all the time. In the end, it is all about making you loose time with the excuse of improving productivity. Apple, your regular customers do not have the time to adjust "all the time". Not everyone is a geek with time for that. Make it customisable at least, or give options, such as returning to cover flow mode. I am sure people are getting tired of that!

I agree 110%. Cover Flow was a fast and easy way to scan (scrub) through lots of image files, to find what I wanted. When I found it, all the information I wanted was down below. It was elegant.

I still haven't figured out a good use for Gallery.

In fact, I used Cover Flow so much that I'm actually considering downgrading, in order to get it back. Mojave offers some neat stuff. The jury is still out. But I'm not really sure those other Mojave features are worth giving up Cover Flow for.

If I were to rank the two biggest things that Apple has eliminated that bothers me most, it would be 1) the 17 inch MB Pro and 2) Cover Flow.

Cover Flow just worked. Gallery just takes up screen space. Bring back Cover Flow.

I'm not confused at all, however you seem confused in thinking I'm actually asking for consulting for whatever purpose or reason. Your continuing contribution to the conversation has been nothing short of condescending and dismissive.

Thankfully elliotttate understands (as does everyone else) and was able to elaborate and communicate that the efforts made on our part to add, continue and carry on conversation about something important could hopefully bring about change (which we've been reminded of the extreme unlikelihood of it happening that it has).

Has Apple ever brought old features back from previous OS updates before? Just curious. It's been a trying process [thus far] to begin restructuring ways to organize and find new alternatives to preview all my graphic folders and files as well as video content. Unfortunately I still haven't heard or found a fix for ways to revert video file previews back to images instead of the new playable video preview option they changed as well.

I appreciate your effort to helping find solutions. Thank you.

If there's any feedback that Apple should adopt going forward with any and every update, it would be to give some heads up (so to speak) of all the changes (such as Coverflow being removed) so users can either plan ahead for such change OR decide not to update because of the possible severity an update could have for ones livelihood or choice.
