Cover flow missing - Mojave Gallery is no replacement?

Why would Apple replace Cover flow with gallery? They are different

1st - Cover flow was a fast and informative method of scrolling thru visual files quickly as images, while also viewing a list of data below. I could see any data I wanted, dates, sizes, and critical COMMENTS that I make with all my files. As I work I NEED to see that data when scrolling thru images!

2nd - I Prefer the vertical nature of Cover flow because I could open multiple narrow windows, and nest them beside one another. I cannot open multiple windows of Gallery and do the same, inefficient use of screen space and lack of data.

3rd - And worst - Gallery does NOT support mouse scrolling??? due to the horizontal nature of the gallery file list.

Horrible design

PLEASE BRING BACK COVERFLOW !! Add it in addition to Gallery for those of us who depend on it for our work

macOS Mojave (10.14), coverflow gallery

Other than Path Finder, you can still download Finder from El Capitan and use that (I can send you a link if you need it). File Cabinet Pro has a Cover Flow View. https://apptyrant.com/file-cabinet-pro-help/ and so does Panic's Transmit (also a full File Editor) https://panic.com/transmit/

I still really miss it built into Finder though! (the Capitan version doesn't work in Dark Mode)

Bob, like I'm sure sammler and many others did, I intensely investigated Mohave, before installing it. The problem is that today's operating systems are so complex that you can't know everything about it, till you have used it for days or even weeks. So in my investigation, I focused my attention on possible changes in Mohave that were both "within reason" and that I knew might impact my work. I found none.

But the reason why I didn't learn that Cover Flow was missing, before installing Mohave, was that never in my craziest nightmares, could I image that Apple would eliminate such a useful tool. Who would have thought that a company like Apple would do something so absolutely regressive? Since that possibility was one that wasn't "within reason", I and I'm sure many others, didn't look for it.

If I had known that Cover Flow was missing, I would most definitely NOT have installed Mohave. Now, although I have not made a firm decision, I'm seriously considering the ramifications of downgrading, in order to get Cover Flow back. (BTW, PathFinder's replacement for Cover Flow is jumpy and erratic and loads previews way too slowly.)

Thanks, dialabrain. I'll try that. I already uninstalled Pathfinder. But I'll re-install this evening, when I have time and try your fix. I've used Pathfinder in the way distant past. But eventually, most of why I used it was included in the Finder. I hope this fix helps. I really NEED Cover Flow. I'll shoot 300 to 400 photos today, but I'll only use about 50. I don't shoot them in the order that they will go into my report. So I need to be able to scrub through them very fast and there is no faster way to scrub through that many photos than with Cover Flow - but only if Cover Flow works smoothly. Thanks, again.

As a professional photo retoucher, Cover flow is absolutely essential. I need to fan through maybe 200 images at a time.. checking positions or looking for something. Without it would cost me time and money. I know the techs at Apple sit around all day dreaming up changes.. that's their job. Instead of making it faster or actually improving our Macs, they change things that we usually don't want or need changed. Adobe photoshop does that too. I have many devices. I uploaded Mojave on my Laptop but will NEVER NEVER change it on my desktop. I don't use dark mode and there is no point to the little things... So LISTEN UP APPLE.. PUT THE COVER FLOW BACK and if you do changes, let them be optional. why don't you ask us artists and people who spend more hours on their Macs than anywhere else what we want before your techs do frivolous crap Like the Gallery view.. USELESS! makes no sense to use icons below.. if we have 100 images and folder, you can't see then all or find them.

And before everyone starts on, yes I have complained straight to apple and I probably will have to get pathfinder even though a few people have said its a poor relation. I think when you first realise that cover flow is missing and youve tried all the options and think there must be something I can do, put it into google this forum thread comes up pretty high and so in your state of distress its quite a comfort to find that so many others are thinking the same thing and so you add your comments too. Thank you to everyone for that. At least I can see others are thinking the same.
