Can I make my iPad keyboard consistent with my iPhone?

Since updating my iPad and iPhone to iOS 12 the other day, I have found that, when typing on my iPad, I frequently find that I have inadvertently changed language settings when I wanted to get to the numerical keyboard. Today I compared the keyboard layout on my iPad with that on my iPhone and I now understand the source of the problem--whereas on my iPhone, the left-hand corner of the keyboard is occupied by the "123" button that changes from alphabetic to numerical entry, the left-hand corner of the iPad keyboard is occupied by the "globe" button that changes the language of the keyboard (I have multiple languages installed, since I write/text in Russian, Chinese, French and German along with English). Surely there must be a way to make the two keyboards consistent, since I'm pretty sure that in iOS 11 they used to be.

This is an iOS 12 issue.

The iPad keyboard is different.

No way to alter this as the keyboard layouts are the way they are for the various iDevices under iOS 12.

I spoke with an Apple support guy this morning and he said he would flag it to the developers. He also suggested that I use a third-party keyboard, so I'm now using Gboard and will see how that goes--interestingly, it is consistent across the iPad/iPhone divide.

I encourage you to send feedback to Apple about this. I did. I am constantly hitting the emoji/language key because it is where the ?123 key used to be and it Is very frustrating.
