Are you using the same Apple ID? If so, that is not a good idea and you should get a separate Apple ID for the child. Also, on the iPhone, check to see if you have Text Message forwarding on. Go to Settings>Messages. You can also go to Settings>Messages on the iPad and see if your phone number is also listed for send/receive.

hello narceshia , To resolve this problem, does your son use the messages app? If so then you can sign in messages with another ID. If not you can go to iMessages and de-Activate iMessage.
