IOS 12.0.1 Microphone Not Working

I updated and now my microphone does not work. I cannot hear anyone when they calls, cannot use Siri and cannot use talk to text.

If I reset network settings it all works for a litle while, then stops again. I have an Iphone 7 Plus.

Last Update:

After the hardware repair of the audio chip my IPhone works perfectly again.

Finally I paid 80€ and it took about 5 days to have it back. Much cheaper than a new phone. However, there are guys offering the same repair for less than 50€ but some of them seem to do the “quick fix” - just heating up the chip and not actually rebound. This might work or not .... some actually “fry it to death”. In Germany the range of cost for the exact same repair is between 45€ and more than 200€ - crazy. So keep your eyes open. Last comment: If you observe the described symptoms no software update will fix it - you will need the repair!!

Good luck :)

I have the same issue- I went to Apple store and they said they have seen the problem before and my options are $350 to fix, buy a Bluetooth headset, or buy a new phone. They didn’t even do any tests on the phone. Trade in value for my phone was only $250.. it’s pretty ridiculous. My Apple care just ran out 1 month ago so I’m not even covered for repairs. It’s so frustrating

i have the same problem after updating to ios 12.1.2. had to send my phone to apple store and pay for the diagnostic. now waiting for the verdict. they say it is probably a hardware problem. and i suppose apple will make me pay for it. i dont think this is fair. phone was just fine before upgrade. is there a way to escalate this matter?

and what happened to your phone? how much did u have to pay for?

The above instruction worked to get my phone working, but when I went to re-add my cards, it turned on multi-factor authentication which then logged me out of my phone. I now have no way to turn off multi-factor as I have no other trusted device and the appleid website no longer has the ability to turn off multi-factor. I'm just a wee bit frustrated. I can't believe Apple could muck up a release as bad as this.

Everyone out there reading this post trend - share with us your microphone issue. I have seen many posts in Portuguese, English and German. Apple, in respect to clients, should not be silent about this problem that is common to many iPhone 7.

If anyone find a solution, please share! After less than 2 years we all have to buy new devices? No, doesn't sound like a solution.

I have also been having this issue with my IPhone 7. I haven’t tried to resolve it with Apple Customer Support yet, but it seems like the results haven’t been very... helpful. This is the first real issue I’ve had with an Apple product, and I’m quite sad... I make frequent calls every day and having that feature stripped is a terrible burden. Please, Apple, fix this.

Just spoke to Apple support about my microphone on iphone 7 not working. This coincidentally happened around ios update 12. Support person did everything she could but without any luck. Made an appointment for me at Apple Store. My phone is out of my extended warranty so could cost me up $300 to fix. So many other iphone 7 users experiencing the same issue after software update. Apple doesn't acknowledge it's their fault. What to do now?

After an iOS update in December 2017 my daughter's iPhone 7 plus black screened right before warranty expired. Thankfully, because still under warranty, Apple replaced the phone however, gave new device only 90 days warranty. Unfortunately, last week - just 14 months later - the replacement phone experienced the microphone failure after 12.1.4 iOS update. Took phone to Apple store told we'd have to replace the phone but they'd give us $300 credit toward new phone (same credit EVERYONE gets for trading in their phone). I said unacceptable as Apple's update killed the phone. Told too bad out of warranty. I asked to speak to supervisor and said clearly Apple knows this is a problem and that an $800 phone should certainly last longer than 14 months. Supervisor offered same $300 credit. I asked what cheapest replacement phone was they said 7 Plus but not to get the 7 Plus because we'd just have the same problem. !!!!!! I believe Apple did this intentionally because their X models weren't selling. I've lost trust in Apple and feel very let down. We have spent a ton of $ on Apply products, MacBooks, iPhones, iPads. This has definitely destroyed my trust & loyalty and I'm researching alternatives. I would also happily join a Class Action.

Hi all latest update- again my microphone stopped working

cant hear I coming or outgoing calls

no siri

no voice memo

this is highly not acceptable coz of Apples fault I have to buy another phone

this time it won’t be Apple at all!!!

i am done with it..

i have seen if there is a manufacture issue even cars are recalled!! This is a phone, Apple should acknowledge its glitch and happily accept even after warranty!

I am too ****** that I couldn’t resolve this
