So basically I am looking at synchronising a .m4a file to my iPhone. I have following the 'how to' forums for creating a 30 secs .m4r file (which has worked for me in the past). I can see the file in the 'Tones' area under 'My Device, however for some reason, the .m4r file doesn't seem to synchronise with my iPhone. Please Help!!

See Create and manage ringtones in iTunes and in particular the section on Removing hidden tones. In some cases you may need to remove all custom ringtones from a device before you can reintroduce them and have them work.

What is inside that Sync folder? Perhaps that needs to go too?

Do you still get the same dotted circle when you try to drag & drop or copy & paste the new tone?

Thanks. Unfortunately this hasn't solved it...
There was one custom made ringtone on the phone, which I have now deleted and followed the instructions on removing the .plist file too (although this regenerates each time you re-enter). Still the same issue. Any ideas?
That's now been deleted too. No luck 😟
Yeah no change... It just doesn't want to sync.
Thanks again. Unfortunately according to Apple Support, they can only assist with ringtones purchased through the Store :-/
