High CPU on Macbook Pro please help?

I have macbook pro retina mid 2012 (15 inch) equiped with intel i7 3720QM, 2.2Ghz.

I just replaced my macbook keyboard (due to ants) and thermal paste (using deepcooz Z5), because my macbook easily get hot.

However it still run hot, at idle, its around 65 C, on light browsing on chrome, it increases to around 75 C.

If i stream a 1060p video on youtube, it goes to around 85 C constantly. Is it normal?

When I tried to run geekbench 4, tempt can goes up to 100+ C, and got a throttle, then goes up again, then throttle again, and keep cycling like that.

I can confirm that both fan are working, and its spinning around 2100 rpm.

Fans idle about ~2000 rpm (your 2100) They should ramp up under a load to ~6000rpm.

MBP 2012 15" 2.2Ghz. is that a i5 ???? I know the 2010 i5 ran very warm.

The go to way to address fans resetting the SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964

from the reference chart below it seems normal.

To trouble shoot further you can:

Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches, dynamic loader cache, etc. get cleared and rebuilt.

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

Test issue in another user (or guest user) account https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204443

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

My macbook has i7 2.6 Ghz, not 2.2Ghz, sorry for the typos.

I have tried many things, such as:

- Reset the SMC multiple times

- Make sure the 2 fans are spinning

- Clean all debris around the fans

- Polish the copper heatsink which touch with cpu/gpu

- Replace thermal paste with DeepCool Z5

- Just now I replaced thermal paste again with Conductonout Liquid Metal

- I tried as you said, login to safe mode, safe mode were very slow (not sure why), almost unusable. And yes still overheating.

- I ran apple hardware test, test passed without any issue shown.

So after all of it, still its overheating, streaming a youtube will rise the temp to 100C 😟 . I ran out of ideas.

Could the heatsink be broken? From outside, its looks well, no damage.
