iCloud for Windows won't install on Windows 10

I just tried installing iCloud for Windows on my Windows 10 laptop (version 1809, build 17763.55) but the iCloud for Windows setup program popped up a window that said "iCloud for Windows requires Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 (April 2018 Update) and earlier". I was forced to close the installation process with an "Installer Error".

iCloud for Windows is a terrific product that allows (among other things) users to be able to synchronize their iCloud contacts and calendar entries with Microsoft Outlook (something I really need to have).

Does anyone either (a) know of a workaround to allow this install, or (b) when a 'fix' to iCloud for Windows will be available?

Fortunately, I found a workaround - although it may not work for everyone. The following method will ‘trick’ the iCloud install program into thinking that an earlier 'acceptable' release of Windows is actually installed.

Open the Windows 10 Registry Editor (Win+R | regedit) .
Navigate to the registry path: HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion  
Note: For Windows 10 32-bit version, the path is HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion 
‘Temporarily’ modify the following 3 registry keys (record the current values first):
1. CurrentBuild: set value to 17134
2. CurrentBuildNumber: set value to 17134
3. ReleaseId: set value to 1803 
Install iCloud (iCloudSetup.exe). When the install finishes, do not restart yet! 
Restore the initial values of the 3 keys (step 3 above) 
Restart PC and complete setup of iCloud
