Hi there, Michael!
From your post, it sounds like you're trying to view your Apple ID account information under Settings on your iPhone, but when you your Apple ID and try to select the "View Apple ID" option, the popup menu closes and takes you back to the previous Settings menu. I'd be happy to help!
In order to view your Apple ID information, you need to be connected to either Wi-Fi (Connect to Wi-Fi on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support) or your cellular carrier's data network. If you're already connected to the internet and still are not able to access your Apple ID information, try the steps below, in order. Stop after each step and test to see if the issue is resolved.

  1. Try another network. If you're using cellular data, try connecting to Wi-Fi. If you're already using Wi-Fi, try another Wi-Fi network or switch to cellular data.
  2. Force close your Settings app: How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support, then restart your iPhone: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
  3. Check for, and install, any available updates for your iOS software: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support, as well as your carrier: Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support.
  4. Backup your iPhone: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support, then using iTunes on a computer, reinstall your iOS software with the "Reinstall iOS" section of If you see the Connect to iTunes screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.
Have a good day.
