After 12.0.1 update battery drain is high

Battery drain is really high right after 12.0.1 update.

Went from 68 % to 44 % within 10 minutes

iPhone 6s, iOS 12.0.1

I have read that article and adjusted settings to maximizer performance. Battery was fine pre-12.0/12.0.1, after installing both of these it lasts about 4 hours. I used to be able to use it all day. Upgrades should upgrade performance, not significantly downgrade it. Very annoying when we are all too busy already to have to contact support for what was supposed to be an upgrade.

I ended up taking my phone to the Apple store when it wouldn't hold a charge for more than 2 hrs and I was traveling, without ability to plug in constantly. I waited for 2 hrs as a walk-in for the "genius bar" service. After another hour the geniuses determined the battery needed to be replaced which I approved. While attempting to replace the battery during the following hour the geniuses ripped a cable and were thus apparently unable to replace the battery. Geniuses said I needed a new phone, it was now not fixable. Since I have a year old SE, which apparently they have stopped making, this store and hardly any others had it in stock. I had to go to a different store far away to get the new phone and transfer everything over from an iCloud backup that I had to create. Overall this experience took almost 2 days and 3 store visits in person to deal with. So that was a lot of lost work time, on a business trip, where I really needed my phone.

So, in summary the upgrade ruined my battery somehow that was not able to be explained, Apple repair then ruined the entire phone, I now have a new replacement phone that is given to me as an already obsolete device, but (knock on wood) for now at least, works fine with the new iOs 12.0.1. We'll see how long this one lasts.

My iphone 7 was running perfectly fine, would charge at night before going to bed, then would last all night and day before having to recharge the following evening, since the ios 12.0.1 update, the battery will go from the 90’s right down to 50 odd percent after only about 10-15 minutes of use, i am now having to recharge 3-4 times daily and then the charging process can take hours and my phone will heat up quite a bit too. This is absolutely shocking, Apple need to get their act together!!!!

I think, today everybody knows, that there is a bug in iOS 12.0.1. I have of course the same problem as a lot of people (may be all users with older iPhones than 8 or X). I have iPhone 6S.

The question is, if apple did it purposely, or it is really a bug. In this last update, they fix some problems with battery recharging of the latest iPhones, as I have read. It's possible, they fix the "long battery life at older models" at the same time 😀

When I was iOS 12, my battery holds for 2 days (I am not at facebook all the day, ok?).

As I upgrade to 12.0.1, my battery holds for less than 1 day! I bought the new battery, and it holds for one day (from 8 AM to 11 PM).

My wife has iPhone6 (not S) and she has iOS 12, her batt holds longer than my new batt!

What's wrong with apple?

I am planning to buy the new XR model. But, I will wait, until this issue will be solved.

If it doesn't, I completely leave iPhone and go to Xiaomi, or another better and cheaper choice...

Same here, 6s. Battery was replaced less than a year ago under the replacement offer they had due to the throttling issue. Not just drain, but if I am watching a video while it is plugged in, it won't charge at all, i.e. the draw on the battery is equal to or more than the charge. That's never happened before. Pretty annoying.

Same issue here. Since updating to 12.1 (iPad Air2, so yes, it’s older than many devices mentioned on this thread), I’m having a sudden and dramatic battery drain.

I followed settings advice elsewhere after the update and allowed several days for systems and updates to finish. I’ve done several resets and was on the verge of trying a reinstall but searched some more and found this thread.

I timed it tonight: it took 43 minutes to drain from 100% down to 35%.
