Same issue with battery since the iOS 12.0.1 upgrade. Chatted to apple support, who suggested a complete reset of my iPhone 6s Plus and reinstalling the backup through iTunes...... still the same issue. No fix in the iOS 12.1 update either. Sort this apple! Not happy
Same issue here. Since updating to 12.1 (iPad Air2, so yes, it’s older than many devices mentioned on this thread), I’m having a sudden and dramatic battery drain.
I followed settings advice elsewhere after the update and allowed several days for systems and updates to finish. I’ve done several resets and was on the verge of trying a reinstall but searched some more and found this thread.
I timed it tonight: it took 43 minutes to drain from 100% down to 35%.
I updated to 12.1.2 last night on my iPhone 6. Now my new battery (replaced it over the summer) drains rapidly even without use. I had charged it to 100% right before bed, didn’t use it all night, and normally my phone will still be at 99-100% overnight. It was 73% when I woke up. Right before the update, it lasted the whole day at Disneyland. My phone now drops 2+% per minute of light use. I, too, think this is a deliberate drain on older phones in an effort to get users to buy a new one. My technologically savvy friend mentioned to me how Apple did this once before in an effort to get people to ditch their older model phones.
Apple not resolve this battery draining isssues in next version also because they want to push customers on new models, i get this response from Apple when i complained and now i am thinking to move on Android due to worst Apple support
I have had the same issue with my 6S plus since the 12.0 update. I drop between 2-4% with everything I open. Absolutely crazy how the battery drains that quick. I reached out to try and order a battery. The attitude I received from the associate I chatted with not impressed or happy with. I was basically advised I’m passed the contract time for a battery. I either wait for a repair box to send my phone in for troubleshooting or schedule an appointment at a store to have them take it in for troubleshooting. All at my expense of course.
I have been having the EXACT same issue in the last 2 weeks. I will leave the house in the morning @ 100% charge, only listening to music on my morning commute to work; so maybe 25-30 mins (w/no other apps open) so, one of two things will happen.
A) I will look at the phone when I get to work (again 25-30 mins tops) and literally be down to about 5-10%!
B) The phone will "shut down" at about 40% battery remaining and require that I plug it back in... after about 30 seconds of being plugged in... it turns on and i'm at 10%... this is BEYOND infuriating. I've tried every step on these message boards and it works (for a very brief time) and then back to the same crap battery behavior.
Get it together Apple!
I have 2 iPhone SE’s (work and home numbers). Same age. Identical hardware.
One upgraded to 12.0.1. The other at 11...OS.
The 12.0.1 drains. The other doesn’t.
APPLE - FIX IT!!!!!!!
I am having the same problem on my iPhone 6S.
Experiencing the same type of issue. Problem seems to be primarily a wifi usage issue. Went from 100% charge to 65% in approximately 5 minutes this morning.
I also did a chat with support today, they had me adjust battery settings and various other things, saying it was my battery getting old. But still same battery drain problem persists that did not exist pre-iOs update. Frustrating. Yes, the battery is a year old but it should be able to handle the new iOs.
I have the same problem. Last week I upgraded to 12.0 and you can watch my battery drain about 2 percent every minute. I have gone through all the settings and hard rebooted the phone and nothing modulates it. I could go all day when running IOS 11. I recently went to IOS 12.1 and still no improvement. What gives Apple?
This is really bad and I don’t understand why this keeps happening! My iPad and iPhone are draining at a rapid rate after 12.01. This needs to be fixed. There are only so many charges for a battery and this is ruining mine quickly.
A YEAR old!? A battery should be working flawlessly at a year old! This is not a way to get repeat business Apple! We have a ton of Apple stock and I think you are jeopardizing your sales when you do this.
Ok, so let me get this straight.
You go online and search “iOS 12.0.1 huge battery drain” because you DON‘T have battery drain to find posts about huge battery drain to write that you don’t have the issue.
I’m amazed.
Please read my post again. Ever since I upgraded ios to version 12.0.1 my battery drains very quickly, even when I’m not using it. My battery health is fine. Apple support verified that. Therefore the only thing that could cause such a drastic change was the ios upgrade. The problem started immediately after the upgrade over a week ago on both my iphone and my ipad. NOT A COINCIDENCE!!!!!
