Safari disables ublock origin

I have the extension "ublock origin 1.16" in safari and safari automatically disabled the extension saying it slows the operation of safari. Why would safari disable a extension instead of notifying me first?

ublock origin is an extension that is obtained from Apple extensions "https://safari-extensions.apple.com/?q=ublock this suggest a malfunction in safari or malware. The reason i suggest malware is safari should of no way disabled the extension without notifying myself and when I try to open safari with the extension installed it does not respond for a long period 5 minutes then it recovers and starts to operate.

Is there anyone having this experience?

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.5)
