How do I upgrade to high sierra from snow leopard

I have a mac book pro 8.1 with latest snow leopard. I want to upgrade to high sierra the most the macbook pro will support.

To do this I have to install el capitan then sierra then high sierra.

To do that I need to use the app store to download.

To do that I need an apple id.

I created an apple id and tried to sign into the app store but it says to change my payment details (new account ???)

i need the latest os x which my mac book pro does not support.

So how do I upgrade to high sierra either without using the app store or how do i get around the restriction of needing mojave to do so.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), null

You need to install El Capitan first. Once that OS is installed, you can go to High Sierra or Mojave. There is no need to install Sierra.

The link Niel posted worked for me.

Contact iTunes Support for account assistance and for help in enabling the download. Either use the form (same as Niel posted) or scroll to the bottom of the page in the 2nd link. Follow through the screens to get a chat or telephone option.

El Capitan

Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.

Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.

Thanks for the reply

However neither of those worked.

I went to appleid and added my paypal account but still did not let me get past wanting to have me update to mojave.

I tried the link you suggested but when I submitted the form it gave me a 403 error.

There is also no email address for apple support on the support link of the link you gave me.

Any other suggestions?

Regards
