trying to go from 10.9.5 to 10.13.6

i have a late 2011 mbp, i can't use mojave, so tried to install high sierra. it spent a couple of hours downloading and installing, then i heard the mac re-boot a few times, and what i think is the firmware sound.

upon re-starting it, about this mac says i'm still on 19.9.5, when i went to try an install AGAIN, the app store says high sierra is installed. it looks like a couple of GB of additional data (the installer?) are some where on my disc also.

what to do?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), 16 gb ram, ssd installed

The installer will be in your Applications folder. You can launch it from there and try again.

"Install macOS High Sierra.app"
