Sometimes the text notification I receive are distorted on my iOS 12

Yep. This has been happening for me for several years now (over several iPhones, a 6S, and two 7 Pluses.) I regularly use two different Apple devices, my iPhone 7 Plus and a Macbook Pro. The problem persists no matter what I try. I do follow this discussion by the way, and try every suggestion that comes along. I even had Apple's tech support try to help me out. No luck.

The odd tone does not always happen, that's the odd part. But the ring tone doesn't matter. It will echo the whistle as well as the standard "ding." I'm tempted to switch to Android but haven't yet, as I hate Android. Geez Apple! How about a little help here? I know there's no money in working out these bugs, but I'm VERY reluctant to upgrade handsets until this is gone.

This is happening to me as well! EVERYTIME someone who doesn't have iMessage on. Between that and the constant auto-brightness readjustment I am ready to ditch Apple. It's been a year, fix the issue already!!

Guess what? They still haven’t fixed it in ios 13. Apple; put some resources on fixing this. I can’t keep telling family that Apple is the way to go when they hear my last 4 iPhones doing this goofed up noise.

I have this issue also, when receiving text message alert the sound it makes sounds like It is stuttering, and then it does it another time again just sounds like a glitch and it doesn’t happen all the time, but when it does happen I feel like the phone is breaking. Any suggestions to rectify this matter?

The only real fix seems to be switching to Android. I am getting closer to doing this, but I still like the iPhones better so I'm stuck. I could maybe live with the stuttering, but I cannot live with no text notification until lifting up the phone to check. This happens sometimes only and it really bothers me.

I just bought an iPhone 7 a few weeks ago and I’ve been having this same issue. I’ve done all the troubleshooting including updating to iOS 13 and restoring! It’s completely annoying, frustrating and unacceptable for such an expensive device to work so horribly. I had a 5C before this (I know I’m behind) and NEVER had any issues like this. It’s terrible!

I think it sucks that they’re not admitting to this issue. This started happening to me when I had the Apple iPhone 6s and now I have the XR and it’s happening on that one too. I’m not tech savvy at all and was confused when it started on my newer phone. Didn’t have any problems like this when I had my Samsung! It’s SO annoying, happens intermittently. Issues like this should not be happening on phones that cost this much money!! Shame on Apple. 🤬

I get the same issue on my iPhone 8 Plus. Very annoying. I too suspect a software issue.

I'm also facing this issue of distorted message tone since a very long time in my iPhone X.

The tone is like a stammering like effect.

I am having this same issue. I have not updated to the 12.1.2 update. This all started with the last update that I did. Have there been any fixes for this as of yet?

I think you're chasing a non-issue, or at least when this happens to me it's only with a single notification with things returning to normal with the next message.

Me too on a 7 with latest update. Only happens on regular text messages, iMessages are fine. Very annoying. Would be nice to see a fix, glad it’s not just me, thanks for posting.
