To upgrade to Mojave on my imac, I was asked to add a helper as an administrator to my computer. Why, and is this legitimate?

I have a less than 1 yr old imac Retina 5K, 27", 2017, running OS 10.13.6. I am the administrator. When I attempted to install Mojave, I received a message that I need to install a helper. I am suspicious. What is this helper, and why do I need to install it when I am already logged in as administrator? Finally, Is this legitimate, or is my computer infected with some form of malware that is trying to gain access?

I suggest you use the program created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. It will provide a snapshot of your system which we can analyze to possibly determine the cause of your problem. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.
