iPhone not connecting to iTunes

Updated to Mojave v10.14. Now when connecting iPhone XS Max to iTunes, get a message that "a software update is required to connect to (my phone). When I click install, I get an error that the installation failed - "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server".

iPhone XS Max, iOS 12.0.1
