Me too. Mid 2011 iMac. Failed to restart with grey screen .. even in safe mode .. finished up restoring from TM. Won’t be trying again until Apple sort this mess

very frustrating. I hope the number of users having issues will generate a response.

I can't seem to solve the problem on my mid-2010 Mac Pro through the terminal commands... Absolutely frustrated with this. I can't even install Mojave now because it won't restart probably.

So I am just pointing out that you should install the updates individually, pressing update all can cause strain on the Mac as it can be downloading and installing simultaneously.

Ok how about you ignore the App Store and download the Security Update from the Apple Support Downloads pages,

Download Security Update 2018-002 (High Sierra)use a cabled connection to your router instead of WiFi.

Is your Mac functioning well, do you have anti-virus installed, not needed, do you have any cleaning apps installed, again not needed, these can sometimes interfere with the installations of updates.

My problem is currently and for the past week or more since I tried to install that Security Update 2019-002, my computer will not shut down if I tell it to from the menu.. or, if during the installation process I need to shut down... the computer just hangs and hangs and hangs... blank black screen... the only way I can get it to shut down is to hold the Power OFF button and wait for it to shut down... to get it to come back on I then wait and press the Power On button...

I'm 100% macOS Mojave compatible... at this stage, I want to just leave High Sierra after all the trouble that the Security Update 2019-002 caused me... I downloaded macOS Mojave, but part of the installation upgrade process... the installer asks you to shut down your computer to install a Firmware update... my computer will not shut down... so I can't get to macOS Mojave... 😟

How do I get my logs so that I can post them here for you guys to review and assist..?

Ah! I just re-installed a friend's system - had an older installer of El Capitan kicking around and did it and it ended up installing ALL the invisible folders visibly - that is, at root level, I could see more than just Applications, Library, System and Users. By the final install and update of El Cap, I HAD taken the Safari 12 update and had that EXACT same folder in the system.

Definitely a problem with the Safari update as I got it and the root level folders visible at the end of it all (Thankfully friend with computer never accesses the root of his drive so it's not going to be an issue.)

I also had a problem with this update. On boot the system said "The macOS installation couldn't be completed"

I restarted multiple times and it just kept coming back to that, it wasn't until I went to the startup disk utility and set it back to my hard drive that I got back into my system.

Luckily I didn't have to restore from time machine, but now I'm worried about doing this update.
